As I posted in another thread, I think deviating from what's been studied is a BAD decision. Even though I voted for the man, I learned a long time ago to take what politicians promise with a grain of salt no matter what party they're from, especially things they promise prior to taking office because they'll say anything you want to hear.
I do hope I'm wrong though!

I feel the same way. A lot of what I hear from the people I vote for I know is BS politicking to get elected.
That's a million vaccines a day. The roll out isn't really going well here. The Health Dept. here stopped taking appointments because their website crashed and they don't have enough vaccines. It has gone well however for healthcare providers and nursing home residents which were the priority for the governor but moving on to the next phase of over 65 (which is a WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE here in Florida) isn't going well. I hope Biden can help but not sure.
I don't think a million vaccines a day is possible, but certainly more can be done. If the manufacturers can provide doses, then I think what is on hand should be given, rather than hold back the second dose. I can't even imagine how one would manage inventory for first dose, second dose, with 2 different vaccines.
I am familiar with many of the people on the new vaccine team and trust that they understand the complexities of getting shots into arms. I am not dissing General Perna, as I think he has accomplished a great deal in shipping vaccine. But we all know shipping a cases of thousands of doses and then getting them into people are two different tasks.
01/05/21 Fauci: US could soon administer more than 1 million vaccines doses per day
... “Once you get rolling and get some momentum, I think we can achieve 1 million a day or even more,” he said, adding that President-elect Joe Biden's plan to inject 100 million Americans with the vaccine in his first 100 days “a very realistic, important, achievable goal.”
Biden’s plan would amount to a million vaccines per day.
Vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna have begun being administered, though the White House has widely left plans for distribution and inoculations to state governments...
... The infectious disease expert said he is hoping the country can achieve herd immunity by the start of next fall, which he said would require between 70 percent and 85 percent of the population to get inoculated...
PS: I'm hoping and praying Dr. Fauci is right.
