Do you have personal malpractice insurance?

I am a new grad and I was wondering how many nurses out there carried their own malpractice insurance.

I wouldn't trust my employer to cover my backside either. Even if they say they will, don't believe them. Get your own insurance. Period.

I purchased malpractice insurance through NSO. It was required for my per diem agency position. It is nice to know I have that extra security.....:kiss

Always, always carry insurance. It is inexpensive and SO worthwhile. Your employer doesn't always have YOUR best interest in mind...............

sorry to be do so dumb but are some of you saying to carry malpractice insurance even whilst in nursing school? If that's case I will as it's so cheap but wanted to clarify...

Good question. Now this is an honest response. I did not carry any insurance as a student but did as soon as I practiced after graduation.

I carry my own malpractice insurance. It is a rider on my homeowner's insurance, so the cost is really unnoticeable to me. They send me a letter every year when the policy is renewed, and I can rest easy knowing I am covering my own butt, because I firmly believe the hospital would throw me to the wolves to keep their own hides safe.

Malpractice Insurance is a must for a nurse. Protect yourself. Take responsibility for actions. Live on the safe side of the edge. frankie

Mine is part of my union package, although the UK is a lot less litigious (sp?) than the US, it's moving that way.

Malpractice insurance was my gift to myself when I got my license. I had it as a student as well. well worth the money for piece of mind!
