Do Nurses STILL want to marry Doctors?

REALITY CHECK!

After reading some of other threads, a theme of nurse-doctor dating/marrying prevails...

I thought we were past that...maybe not.

Reminds me of the throwback nurses of the 1950's and 1960's who were gah-gah over the television characters Dr. Kildare and Dr. Ben Casey...

...or the nurses of the 1970's who cooed over the television character Dr. Marcus Welby and also actor James Brolin...(Forgive I can't remember if James Brolin Performed in TV program Marcus Welby, MD or Medical Center)...

I thought we were all past that...

I can remember some women, yes women, admitting to entering the nursing profession in order "to meet and marry a doctor."...

I don't get it.

Are we still salivating the ancient fantasies of the past?

Do Nurses STILL want to marry Doctors?

Not just no...He11 NO!

Specializes in ICU, ER, EP,.

What do you mean still?

Noooooo never ever, yuck:down:

I've been boy-crazy all of my life, according to my family, so perhaps I'm not the one to ask.

But YES!

I mean, I didn't get into this job to meet doctors, and it's not my goal to marry a doctor because he's a doctor.

It just so happens there's this one doc...who's cute, nice, smart, cute near my age, loves the Lord, cute, has a puppy and is single... Def. not raking in the bucks because he's a 2nd year resident and most likely still has loans to pay off from Med School and university before that. I'm secretly madly in love with him.

But guess what? I don't like bars, don't attend a church, and my friends who are guys are not date material. So where else am I to meet guys?

Yes, She Said enough for the both of us!

I'm another for the no category. Nothing against doctors, it's just not a lifestyle I want. The nice thing about being with a doctor is the money and there are so many other professions where the money is just as good (or better) that have a lifestyle I'd find more tolerable if money were a primary factor.

There have been a handful of nurse/doctor marriages and relationships at my facility but they've all experienced (and most ended with) infidelity. Much more common is the married doctor and sometimes married/sometimes not nurse having a thing on the side. That of course always ends really really well for everyone...

I do, but my wife says no way. Just as well as we have a small house, and I am not sure where she would sleep.

Not just no...He11 NO!

You know, I have only ever met one nurse that I truly knew was out to meet a doctor. she did find and marry the worst excuse for a practioner I have ever seen; but hey, she did it!

Most nurse know that as far as husband material, they are either absent or absent minded,at least when it comes to social skills...

Specializes in Medsurg/ICU, Mental Health, Home Health.
