I heard CNA's do not, but do LPN's?? Do LPN's do IV, blood work, and inject meds?
CNA don't do any of these procedures?

Yes, LPNs deal with needles. What kind of needles and how often depends on the scope of practice in your State and facility policies. I do blood sugars, TB tests, subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, and work with IVs (but only an RN can start an IV or administer IV push meds). I'll also do blood draws once I finish my facility's training course. Some facilities in my area allow CNAs to do blood sugars.
LPNs in NYS can, with certification, start IVs. CNAs may NOT take blood sugars.

It depends on your state BON. In Florida for instance in chronic dialysis the LPN's are IV certified and can give IV antibiotics and IV meds as ordered. Of course an RN is always in the building. PCT's can do cannulation of the fistulas and grafts (using #14-#15 g stainless steel needles) and some are able to access and start treatments on the CVC's also. They can also administer NS when indicated for hypotension. It very much depends on what state and type facility you work in.

In SC both RNs and LPNs may initiate IV lines. The RN may also give blood and other products such as platelets, plasma, albumin and smaller bags of electrolytes such as potassium or magnesium, that the LPN may not.Certain LPNs with advanced training may hang fluids to central lines such as piccs and triple lumend, but not portacaths or other ivads of that type.
We also have a position of Patient Care assistant who may draw labs and do fs blood glucose, thay are also trained to do ekgs though none at my hospital were permitted that.
The thing to be certain is to contact the board of Nursing and make sure.

Where I worked at as a CNA in the state of TN I was not allowed to do BS or any sticks of any kind. Although I was trained (by facility) to assist in Level 1 transfusion of checking off blood and drawing out air out of IV bags for the Level 1 machine. I could prime pressure bags, set up for A-lines, as well prime our multi-line omni-flos to hang maintence fluid, fentanyl, versed, and abx to transfuse through one line for our vented traumas. I can NOT do these things with my LPN unless if that facility chooses to rehire me as a LPN. But they don't hire LPN's.. sooo lol.
As an LPN, my current facility will train me for IV's and sticks and so on, but there is only a certain list of drugs that I can push and hang.
It all depends on your state B.O.N.

Short answer - Yes.
Long answer - fingersticks, intradermal, subq and IM injections, with extra certification may start IVs and draw blood.
