Do you keep in touch with your old nursing instructor?

Does anyone keep in touch with any of your old intructors? I graduated over 15 years ago and have always kept in touch with one of my instructors who was such an inspiration to me. She really encouraged me in that last semester and her lectures made the material come alive for me. Without her I wouldn't have made it through nursing school but would have had a total nervous breakdown, she was that important in my life.

Yes, I still keep in touch with my instructor. I actually got a job on the floor that clinicals are done on so I see my instructor whenever I work. I am actually on a break right now trying to pass my NCLEX but I still email her and keep in touch with her. Our class has a VERY STRONG bond. It does help that there were only 5 of us though.

Yes, sorta. I have been an RN for20yrs. never really kept in touch, except one day when i was dx with breast ca. went to one of the survivor meetings and she was there. She to was a ca survivor. We really didn't discuss work we were more focused on our dx. As the meeting went on, one of my favorite instructors was the head of our ABCC. So yes & no.

Nope. I never thought twice about it.

NO, NO AND NO!!! Had enough of them in nsg. school

God no. I hated them and the feeling was mutual. I'm glad you at least liked yours

Not nursing school instructors - my clinical teacher when I hit ICU after a year out of school was awesome. I ended up working with her for several years so kept in touch. Now she is my supervisor for my thesis - we still have very similar patient population interests.

yes, i keep in touch with quite a few instructors from my bsn program...i was invited back to speak to the seniors about the transition now that i'm more than half a year (Yikes, that went fast!) out.

I actually work with one of my instructors now! It's pretty cool... Though it is kinda weird to call her by her first name.

No...just like I dont keep in contact with my grammar school teachers, high school teachers, general ed teachers...for me to keep a contact with a teacher they would have to be someone outstanding..the only nursing professors they I liked are part time instructors so I dont even know if they still teach, and they were the only nice ones and treated us decent and said a lot of encouraging words...advices..as far as full time faculty...majority of them are drill sergeants,so I choose not to.

Hi Lovehospital-- It was my understanding from your previous posts here that you are currently a nursing student. From this post, it sounds as if you graduated quite a while ago. I'm confused.

Specializes in Neuro ICU and Med Surg.

I occasionally run into a past clinical instructor at work. She teaches clinicals there. I have run into her several times since I graduated. She was hard on me but she was hard on everyone. She taught me so much. But nursing professors, no I don't keep in contact with any of them.

Yep, I keep in touch with almost all of my old instructors. They were the best! I have heard so many horror stories about instructors that I know I got very lucky. I even keep in touch with the secretary of our nursing program.
