Do you ever get called doctor?

I swear, I must be called Doctor, but someone just about everyday, by patients, and even some attendings. It's actually quite irritating. That is all.

Im a 21 Year old Nurse Extern in the Emergency room and I even often get called doctor lol

Happens alot

I'm still a nursing student but currently work in an outpatient clinic as an administrator. I've been called "doc" many times. The funniest thing is I don't even wear scrubs at work!

Since the lanyard that holds my employee badge (which always seems to face the wrong way no matter which way I hang it) is a big square thing with the letters "RN" on it.... no, I haven 't been called doctor.

Ah, I have one of those and I still get called Doctor. It doesn't work

I got called doctor a lot during clinicals when i was in school I think it was manly because of how i looked in white scrubs. my second to last clinical I was straight up molested by a resident while I was inserting a catheter she grabbed my frank and beans and then looked at me and said ''I love you doctor" lol. I'm still scarred from it.

Specializes in Elderly Rehab.

I work in elderly rehab, and because I'm a bloke, many of the old dears assume I am a doctor, usually the confused or demented ones, but if it makes them feel better I don't deny it.

I got called Doctor a lot when I was a transporter/PCT II in POCU/PACU. Sometimes they were heavily sedated and waking up/confused so you just ignore it. I do of course deny it when they are awake:) I would suppose I get it so much because I am one of the only males working in that area besides the doctors and a few male crna's/surg nurses. Also, I am very very confident and answer all questions promptly, take great care of them, and explain to them everything that is going on. Man, I loved that job. It made me switch careers to nursing:)

Specializes in ER.

Some of my co-workers call me doctor. Can't figure out if thats a good thing or a bad thing....
