  1. come to think of it many elderly clients call me "pogi" meaning handsome because i was wearing a mask and i blame that there drugged too
  2. i reviewed in manila @ east-west medical specialists try that out it helped me pass my board last dec 2005
  3. hmm im also confused of this post you dont need a watch to use the spygmomanometer?
  4. bp steth, thermometer (mercurial) rectal, oral , bandage scissor , pen , psp (i use it for drug guide) wrist watch
  5. yes the life of a nurse im young at it but being a nurse is not a walk in the park being a student nurse is fun not to scare you but being a staff nurse is a whole new world you will encounter a new environment if you don't have nerves of steel to survive you can quit now that what i always tell myself because when i became a nurse i thought life will be easy street but it's not it just the beginning sure life as a nurse is sometimes hell but not all the time but you can't slack off if your taking care of lives do you i can tell im tired as hell being a nurse but when you see the smiles of the patients your taking care off eases all the pain youve endured from your work it has a warm fuzzy feeling when you see that youve given quality care and patients are @ ease most of the times im angry and burned out but all of it are worth when you felt that you helped save someones life even if it was just the slightest as comforting them emotionally you'll when you've expirienced it
  6. having low grades on college does not reflect the care you give to patients the care you give is based on experience i tell you i have a friend who is @ the top of our graduating class but idk why he still taking the local board that i passed 3 years ago yes they say there is shortage of nurses but the quality of nursing has declined greatly because of to many students they dont get to experience hand's on how to take care of patient because when i was a student it 1 is to 1 ratio from student nurse - patient but now with the 15 students to 1 patient i dont see all of them learning something maybe that is why its hard to get in now
  7. i use a silver waterproof watch that my mother gave me while i was still a student nurse up to now i still use it forgot the brand though
  8. yes you should take a watch with second hand it is easier to use when taking vital signs and also the waterproof one's so that you dont need to take it off when washing your hands digital? when i was a student nurse i was not allowed to be used only watches with 2nd hand are allowed
  9. being a nurse is not based on your grades when you were in college i tell you im not the sharpest knife in closet when i was a student im not telling you im not smart though im now a registered nurse and my friends who is one the top 10 of my class is still taking the local board nursing is based on skill and experience it's like a sport that you have to practice and train endlessly to become good at it unless your gifted it is also an art and endless learning process where you should make the most of your time everyday and try to learn new things even the simplest knowledge can make a difference when you need to use your critical thinking good luck on your nursing career
  10. i use a waterproof watch that my mother gave me while i was still a student nurse
  11. yes in a hospital you have to learn how to defend yourself and also be confident that you know what your doing based from experience and some of my friends some co-workers from hospitals tend to gang up on you when they don't like you because some people become judgemental easily
  12. there is a higher ratio of female nurses to male nurses but where i work male nurses are the muscles there always put in the er and ward firstly the once who lifts patients but for the fringe benefit or danger zone i tell you i have seen an angry husband and an angry wife storming in my workplace because of there jealousy and insicurities from there other halfs workmates if your married and your other half is also has alot of jealousy and insicurities then i say danger zone but if your single like me then it's fringe benefit
  13. im 24 yrs old and started my nursing carreer when i was 22 sure im young sometimes called a doctor too but not all young nurses stay away from work i love being a nurse maybe you just expirienced it at your work place but not all young male nurses are lazy i tell you mam not to brag but my chief nurse and nurse supervisor is at ease when im on duty because they now im not slacking off and work as a team even the slightest of work like emotional support and reassuring patients i do it
  14. i started my nursing career when i was 22 dont worry about it bro your still young i have a aunt who is now 65 and still works as a nurse
