These are watches for nurses that are pinned to the uniform. The numbers are upside down, so when you take somebody's pulse, you can just grab the watch and hold it up and you can read the numbers. I have not seen any nurses/health care workers wear these. The reason I am asking is because I just got my LPN, and I have my mothers old nursing watch. It works great, and I rather wear it, so when I wash my hands I don't keep getting my watch wet. Also I think it is cleaner to have it pinned to the uniform. I am just curious if anyone else is using it.

I, personally, haven't used one of those, but I've seen people with it. It seems like a very practical and useful tool, and I agree with you on the handwashing part and the cleaner look part. Just make sure is very well pinned to your uniform, you wouldn't want some pt. to just rip it off of it.
Good luck :)
Thank you for your reply. I am glad to hear that you have seen others use these. I wanted to wear my mothers watch (she passed away 20 years ago), and I feel more comfortable knowing that there are others wearing this style of watches too.

I have 2 of these Fob watches and wore them for many years here in the UK. I know as a birthday present I bought one of my friends who is a US nurse one and she loves it and still wears it after a few years. She does have to make an effort to remove it so she doesn't wash it

That would be great to have, my watch is always coming unclasped, especially when I am wearing sterile gloves...go figure!

I have one sitting in my jewelry box somewhere. Generally you do not see them in the USA.

I have been wearing one for a long time (Oregon), I can't wear watches because they hurt my skin...had tried all types of bands and it just wouldn't work (and that was before nursing). So I found some that didn't have the face upsidedown but used them anyway...then I found some that did...and have been using them too!
I also use ones that clip, and clip them to my steth. Only thing is that I broke the glass face on them bending over a few times (no injuries or in beds with patients thank goodness.) Then I found some in the form of ladybugs whos wings go over the glass face and you just stap the wings open. Everyone loved them so much (they came in gold and silver...nothing goddy) that now there are lots of people using them, and the pin ones too! The cost of the pin ones are much more since I bought them at a jewler, but the lady bug ones were at at local convienent store chain for 9 bucks!
Much better than watches (which in most case I see dangling off steths anyway! LOL!)...and a whole lot cleaner!

I got one a while ago to wear at my new PCA job. I can't stand wearing any jewelry, not even my wedding ring, so these types of watches are perfect for me.
I got this one:

all the nurses in my country are required to wear these as part of the uniform. yes, uniform. the dress or two-piece with the apron, folded hat with two horizontal stripes, and clarks shoes etc.
