moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html

we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!

i have forgotten how to send posts or responses to one person. can someone tell me how to do that?

Under that person's name on the post, there are a few symbols. Click on the notepaper with the pencil and that will let you send a pm.

I just took the nurse 106 challenge exam today for mental health. I passed with a 96%. The test had 65 questions and as long as you study the material in the CSM and do the practice test in the back you will do fine. Now all I have left are the TEAS and the other 3 tests. I will be applying for admissions into the Spring '10 class also.

Thanks for the encouragement! Let us know how it goes with the other exams. I get the feeling you might be taking them before I do :)

Just wanted to share! I passed my Technical Writing exam today and scheduled my chemistry exam for 25AUG. After that I am on to the nursing mods! I will probably be taking the TEAS during this next week as well. Any tips from you ladies that have taken either of them?

Hi Kylea, weirdangel, luv2nurse02, and Amy E! I'm another one planning on applying for Spring 2010. So glad I am not alone in this. I still have to CLEP Lifespan Psych and test out of the 4 challenge exams.

Kylea: Congrats on passing your Technical Writing class!

Amy E: How long did you study for the Nurs 106 Challenge exam? I'm a bit nervous about these "test out" classes because, I have been so accustomed to using textbooks and notes as my resources for learning.

Welcome to the group! I'm so excited to see so many on this message board starting at the same time.

I went to take my TEAS today...I called my proctor last week to verify that everything was good to go. Got there today and found out they hadn't set up proctor status yet...ARGH! So now I can't take it until at least Friday. :( I really wanted to get it over and done with!

live&love&heal- I studied for Nurse 106 for about 3 weeks. I used the CSM and spent 1 week per unit. I did the test in the back once before I studied so I knew what to focus on and then once again after I studied so I could look over the question I got wrong again.

Kylea: Sorry to hear about the proctor mishap. I hope all goes well with the proctor situation on Friday.

Amy E: I'll try studying for the challenge exams a unit a week, pretesting, and then retesting. That sounds like a grest way to study for these exams. :) Thanks for sharing!

Anyone in Central Florida enrolled in the ISU program for Fall 2009? Is there anyone out there who may know of a nurse (RN-BSN) preceptor/mentor that would be willing to oversee a student's physical assessments?

be sure to study the areas you feel weak in and get familiar with the scores you need to get in each area.
