Indiana State University BSN Thread for Current Students

moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html

we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!

Excelsior has nothing to do with the CSMs. You take those directly through ISU. TCN's modules really are the perfect tool to study for those tests HOWEVER you can get them elsewhere and that's recommended.

You seem to know a lot about how to get around here so I was wondering if you could share with me how exactly to get around TCN. I personally loath the company and it's the only thing standing between me and this program. I've completed all my Gen Eds, I've been accepted into ISU for Fall 2009 and now I need to take the CSM's but I would rather pluck my eyes out than do a contract with TCN. Can you direct me to an alternative? I've looked everywhere with no success. I'm desperate and begging on bended knee...

You just have to get the CSMs elsewhere. Ebay, other students, etc. Do you have access to your ISU email account yet? There are always students selling their old modules through there.

Yes I do have access to my email. It's [email protected] . Where do I find these students? How can I contact someone with modules? Ebay has nothing. I've been looking for weeks. It's getting down to my deadline to start taking these test before Fall semester and I'm running out of time. Any direction you can give me would be great. I'd hate to have to sign that TCN contract....:twocents:

Hi,

Correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that in order to get in for the Fall '09 Semester you would of had to have the exams taken and passed by the June 1st deadline? I have one exam taken and 3 to go and will apply by Nov. 1st for Spring '10 Semester.

Hello All,

I'm sorry to bug ya'll about this, because it looks like there's a fair amount of people looking for the CSM modules, but I won't be starting until next year. If anyone finishes with their modules and wants to get rid of them afterward, please contact me, I don't need them until next year 2010. Thanks!

Can someone let me know if these are the right study guides for ISU LVN-BSN program

Med Surg- Care of the Adult client Vol 1 pgs 202

Psych- Care of the client with a mental disorder vol II pgs 152

Ob- Care of the Adult client during childbearing Vol III pgs 102

Peds- Care of the Child Vol IV pgs 270

Thanks!

Anyone else applying for Spring 2010? Looking for some potential classmates to try and keep in touch with!

I am planning to apply for the spring of 2010! :) IF I am able to pass the 4 nursing modules....

Kvlea, have you already taken the tests??? If so, how were they???

I haven't taken them yet. I'm testing my last two pre-reqs this week and next week. I am also starting to study for the Mental Health exam; I only plan on spending about a week or so on it. I'm not working right now (on maternity leave) so I've got plenty of time to spend! I did read somewhere that we only have to pass Mental Health before we can apply; we just have to have all four of them complete before we start NURS 208 in Jan. I am hoping that is the case because it gives us just a little more time. I left messages with my contact at the school to find out. Which exam are you starting with?

Just got an email back from my contact, and the thing I read about mental health was wrong. All four do indeed have to be completed by the deadline. I'm starting with Mental Health and plan on moving pretty quickly. How about you?

Kvlea,

I am actually almost done with the first book (mental health). I'm kind of scared to take the test...yes, you do need to have all the four tests PLUS the TEAS test completed by November 1st. I am hoping to take the test soon, I'm just having some issues with taking the test (work schedule). :) I hope we can get started next year together!!! :) :)

Good luck with getting this test under your belt and ready for the next. Will definitely be keeping you posted on my progress as well.
