Discussions always so hostile here?

Is this a place for nurses to "grow, learn, and network", or just some place for people to pick fights, who happen to be nurses?

what a disappointment. I'd hoped to find a professional site, and reconnect with a part of my life that has been lost through disability, but is still a huge part of my life. What a waste.

Are most of the people here really this angry?

God help nursing- and the patients....

because I'm having trouble getting to the spam controls to get this stuff out of my inbox- already removed the bookmark, unliked the site, and blown off other posts I'd been following- happy now? :)

As soon as I get the spam set to include this web address, I'm GONE :)

Puh-leese, as if it's so hard to go to your options and unsubscribe to your threads (i dont get one.single.email from this site). Spam filters are not needed.

For someone who has worked for 26years i would say that you have not quite developed a backbone for things to roll over. People would always be people and as long as you have interactions, there would always be frictions.

If the threads on here arent to your liking there is allnurses central which deals more with everyday issues (not generally nursing) but nurses interacting. I find less friction there cos there's really nothing to grumble about in those topics.

I would say dont leave because you dont know when your expertise would be needed by someone and then you would be glad that at least in all these chaos,, you are/were the voice of reasoning

You wanna see hostile. Check out the message forum site that deals with gymboree clothing.

Those people need to get a life. At least our vents are justified. There is a lot of support here actually. Its just done in SBAR fashion. We don't waste time or beat around the bush. :lol2: The advice is tough, because the job is tough.

Now..who has those cupcakes and lollipops??? :D

EXCUSE me.... I've been an RN for 26 years- still have my license, and have had more stress in nursing than many of you will ever understand....if you haven't been in this for a good 15-20 years, you don't have a CLUE about the olden days.

Lollipops and cupcakes? Talk to me about cancer, chemo, epilepsy, bone spurs on the c-spine, dysautonomia, diabetes, just to start... Life is hard. DUH..... but being nasty to each other is a choice.

It's unreal how experienced so many new grads think they are- In a decade or two, maybe you'll understand..... maybe. I've "unliked" the site (worst bunch of nursing posts I've ever seen)...now to spam it in my e-mail.

Those who have been doing this for a while would have a lot more credibilty .... again JMHO (and working on getting rid of this from my inbox).... :)

But you are being nasty in your tone and caps.

And what is my tone in writing? Do you know what I'm feeling (not angry...that was assumed)

The size of the font was changed- and I used caps, but not to shout (my mistake).

To the all-knowing computer whiz- I keep getting this s@@t.....even when I put the spam filter in. It's like some bad fungus.

This post started out as a simple question that was seen as nasty. I was asking a question that could have easily been answered with a decent "tone" and choice of words (and some did) but the knee-jerk reaction from most was sarcasm, insults, and combativeness.

Anybody else see my point? Back to the e-mail settings and account information.

(are these letters and "tone" acceptable? :))

Caps is yelling, Excuse me with caps, is like someone yelling. The word "duh"...need I say more?

I said my mistake to the caps..... what else do you want?

Actually to go to bed:yawn:. I'm on day 4 of 45 hrs worth and I have to go back tomorrow to work on DOH crap.

Nighty night, and thanks for not using caps. They make me sad.:D

Take care, and thank you for answering me kindly :)

LMAO

I know what you mean. I hate those people who are so arrogant and blunt when making their point, its as if nothing else matters but winning the debate.

<_>

>_>

Honestly though, all kidding aside, there is an issue being brought up here that has a certain merit to it. For me, I have noticed a flux of new members with screen names that resemble someone just key mashing (ksdjo........dsiv........iosdk.....sisojdij). These individuals don't post anything in the "About Me" section of their page, don't have their experience listed, are always

Yes, I'm saying it even though we aren't supposed to use the term..........trolls are on our board. I think the advetising of the site (on places like facebook) has invited them in. When I was new, I felt odd because it seemed everyone had been here for years already. Now, new members abound. Thats not a bad thing, but.......well, there are so many of the people I described above, you just can't ignore the fact that all of them don't seem to be here for any real reason other than to fight.
