Discarded babies

In the news this week, a newborn was found in a ditch at around 6 a.m. naked buy still covered in bodily fluids. It was around 20 degrees here when this baby was found.

HOW does this happen?

The mother for lack of a better word has not come forward yet. The police are saying they are not interested in pressing charges at this time.

I don't understand for the life of me how someone can bring a life into this world and then just toss the child into a ditch...no blanket, no bath...nothing

Even if she were very very young, most 10-11 yo girls won't even put a pet out in this frigid weather...so how does one toss a baby out?

Tinnekke, I read your post and I really admire what you did. To whoever said children are not your possessions, you are so right. This attitude is so very prevelant today among lots of the pt's I see and esp. teens. It must be difficult to put your child first and see that your circumstances are not the best thing for him/her at the time. Of course, selflessness is one of the virtues we as a culture so admire in a mother, which you very truly are in the deepest sense of the word. Both of your sons are very lucky.

Thank you to everyone for their support. It's still a very emotional subject for me when I discuss Craig. I always feel like I am laying my heart bare. I just felt I needed to respond to someone who had honest questions about how someone could do what I did.

while I didn't LIKE the word choices of the whole "garden variety pychotic" statment in relation to the posters view on abortion I respect her/his right to have those feelings. Even though I don't agree...

I am 110% pro-choice and am OFFENDED by the lengths some of the people who are anti-abortion will go to all for SHOCK value...those huge semi's that drive from city to city w/ INACCURATE later term aborted fetus photos on the sides, the big 12 X12 billboard that protesters were waving in front of a local clinic that provides abortion services (a CLEAR view from the ELEMENTARY school across the street!)...etc.

It's disgusting that I had to explain to my then 5yr old why those people were holding up those pictures as we drove innocently down the WRONG street apparently.

See...now THOSE people I think are pychos.....imprinting those images on those little kids brains...what is wrong w/ them??? 100 yrds from a school!!!

I respect their right to believe as they choose but I also think that waving a billboard in my 5yr olds face as we drive by in stop and go traffic is INFRINGING on his and MY right to believe otherwise....not to mention plain

To the two 15 year old moms whose babies we have had in our Level II in the last few weeks-a big "thank you" from two delighted sets of new parents.

It is a very difficult and mature decision to have your newborn adopted. We spend time with those new parents, and hear their stories.

Tinnekke, bless you, too. There is so much pressure for new moms to keep their babies. It's wonderful to have moms who think of the baby's needs first.
