Hi everyone! I'm new to this community. I signed up because people here are usually uplifting everyone and I thought I could use some inspiration and encouragement too.
Just took the NCLEX-RN for the 4th time last wk and today I found out that I didn't pass. I feel like a failure and that not only did I let myself down but also my family and relatives. They really want me to pass ASAP. My parents told their friends a while back that I'm taking I'm taking the boards soon and now every time that I see them somewhere they keep asking me if I'm a RN or not. I just feel terrible. I haven't even kept in touch with some friends because I'm embarrassed to say that I still haven't passed. I tried my best on this 4th time but still didn't work. I also feel discouraged and don't know how I'll be able to start reviewing again for my next exam.
The following is what I've used to help me review:
-Kaplan Review Course (Wasn't helpful for me)
-Saunders Q&A Review Exam Edition 3 (Very helpful)
-Saunders CD
My weakest areas on the NCLEX are SATA (Select All That Apply) questions, COHORTING patients with different types of diseases, and meds. If at all possible I don't really want to purchase any more resources because I don't have the money.
If you have any suggestions or advice for me I'd really appreciate it. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to pass the NCLEX-RN on my next try. It's been my dream to be a RN. :redpinkhe Thanks for reading my story! God Bless!
Heavenzangel: Don't be sad i'm in the same boat as u , but what u can do to saveurself from the embarrassment is not to tell everyone...keep it a secret(u can tell atleast one person) so if u dont pass u won't be so embarrassed. Im trying Hurst review I it's my 4th too!! Another thing stay strong it doesn't matter how many times u take as long as u pass...and once u pass u don't have to tell anyone how many times u took it cause that can't find out..good luck!!!!!!!!!!
Try suzzanne's plan if u can't afford anything else:up:.
sorry to hear that.Try doing some content review. If you already know your content, thats the time you do the kaplan qtrainers/qbanks.Try to purchase pda by linda lacharity
Hi, Can you pls give me the ISBN number for the book Linda Lacharity? I've heard that it's really a good reference. I want to see if I can buy it at amazon.com. Thanks!
I know how you feel I will be taking the nclex for the 3rd time and it doesn't feel good but through all this it has generally humbled me and I thank God for that. Have faith and you can do it! God wouldn't bring you to it if he couldn't get you through it!!! You are in my prayers God Bless!!!

well I think you need to keep stadding..... things are different here in US:banghead:
:bluecry1::bluecry1:jUST LIKE SOME OF YOU, I AM ONE OF THOSE WHO DIDN'T MAKE IT FOR SEVERAL TIMES:down:. WHAT IS MOST HURTFUL IS THAT---SOME OF MY FAMILY, FRIENDS, RELATIVES WOULD EVEN ASK " WHY CAN'T YOU PASS IT?? YOUR FRIEND....PASSED IT?" I KNOW I AM NOT DUMB. IF THIS NCLEX IS THE SAME EXAM 10 YRS. AGO (NO SATA OR FILL IN THE BLANKS) AND WE ALL HAVE THE SAME KIND OF QUESTION, AT LEAST THOSE WHO TAKE IT THE SAME DAY. THEN I'D SAY--MAYBE, I'M DUMB. BUT, HOW COME I KEEP GETTING HARD QUESTIONS, A LOT OF PHARMA:angryfire? A LOT OF "SELECT ALL THAT APPLIES" I KEPT GETTING "NEAR PASSING"....WHAT'S HARD IS, I HAVE KIDS TO TAKE CARE OF TOO AND NEEDS MY ATTENTION. I HAVE BEEN SITTING TOO MUCH IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER :typingAND SPENT LITTLE TIME WITH MY HUSBAND AND FAMILY ONLY TO GET THE RESULT "DID NOT PASS!" I WISH I JUST SPENT IT WITH THEM IF MY EFFORT WAS ALL USELESS:(...WHAT'S KICK IN THE BUTT IS--- THERE ARE THOSE WHO STUDIED LESS, PARTY ALL WEEKEND AND STILL PASS!!!! THAT'S SOOOO FRUSTRATING. I DON'T BELIEVE I AM DUMB....NOR AM I SOUR GRAPING. I JUST FEEL THAT SOMETIMES, IT'S SO UNFAIR!
LOOKING AT IT ON A BRIGHTER SIDE, THOSE OF US WHO KEEP ON TRYING AND STILL TRYING....IT'LL BE A LOT SWEETER WHEN WE FINALLY "PASSED" HARD TO BE ON YOUR STUDY "MOTIVATED" MODE AGAIN BUT WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO EXCEPT TO KEEP ON TRYING.....WE WON'T ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING IF WE STOP:nono:...ALL THOSE SLEEPLESS NIGHT, EFFORT AND TIME STUDYING WILL COME TO WASTE IF WE JUST GIVE UP.....SO TO THOSE OF US WHO DIDN'T PASS IT SEVERAL TIMES (BE IT 2ND,3RD,4TH SO ON....). LET US ALL PRAY AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. IF THEY CAN DO IT...WE ALSO CAN DO IT. LET'S NOT MAKE ANYMORE ROOM IN OUR MINDS FOR NEGATIVITY. WHEN IT COMES AND YOU START THINKING THAT WAY...SHAKE YOUR HEAD INSTEAD AND CONVINCE YOURSELF OUT LOUD (IF YOU WANT!) "I'M GONNA MAKE IT TOO, I WILL PASS IT!!!"
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO PASS IT, IT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IF YOU'LL PRAY FOR US WHO KEEP ON TRYING....ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO SEEMED TO FEEL THAT THEIR FAMILY/FRIENDS/RELATIVES DIDN'T BELIEVE IN THEM ANYMORE.
:zzzzz:(
GOD BLESS AND LET'S MOVE ON AGAIN............
Keep your chin up sweetie... I feel your pain i have tested 3 times and still not successful so im in the same boat as you. I did learning ext.com twice and noticed the amount of questions i got increased. The first time i tested after doing kaplan i only got 76 questions where as after i did learningext.com i got 265 on 2nd test then 260 on third... keep us all posted im considering kaplan tutoring but not sure. I was told by a kaplan instructor to get the lippincott Q&A review for nclex-rn so far it seems to be passing level questions but im only on number 7... good luck and dont ever give up!

:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat Now I know you said that you didn't want to buy any more study material. . .but. . I just took the NCLEX today and what really helped me with remembering medications was a book called "Pharmacology made insanely easy" My school had the authors come and do a presentation and they gave us the book as part of that. It was sooo helpful. It gives creative mnemonics to help you remember side effects and the indications for meds, as well as labs and s/s to monitor the patient for. It's not sold in bookstores as far as I know but it is available online. The authors are Loretta Manning and Sylvia Rayfield. . .and it is published by ICAN publishing. . .If your interested! Whatever you decided to do just remember that in your heart your an RN. . .and you'll get there:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat
