Test 1: 55% (20% of grade)
Test 2: 66% (25% of grade)
Test 3: 80% (20% of grade)
Final (35% of grade)
I'm gonna need a 100 to pass class on the final and that is impossible.

You're not serious really? How do you think you'll pass med math if you can't figure what 90% of 100 is ?? I'm gonna take that as a joke. Right? [/quote']Hopefully just an overly stressed student. Talk to your classmates and teachers. See what they focus on. Remember you are not alone at school. Don't be too proud to use your resources.

I agree.
That is a basic problem. Now if your final was 134 questions I can see having to pull out a calculator but 90% of 100?

Give her a break. She is worried about failing and is probably stressing out a lot. I know there are days when I am so stressed my brain goes wonky. I doubt she would have made it through her pre-reqs without knowing 90/100 is 90%.
OP, best of luck on your final! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

You are correct. This is not a new problem for her. Unfortunately she appears to have a habit of starting posts like this, then never returning, who knows if she listens to the advice provided.
I believe in supporting people, but I truely believe that EmilyEmily does not have the knowledge and skills nursing requires. She needs to find employment in a place that does not require critical thinking or math

What is a passing grade in your class?
If you need a 73 in the class as a final grade... you need an 84.2 on the final.
If you need a 75 in the class.. you need a 90 on the final.

Are most grading scales that low to pass the class? Our program requires an 80 or higher or you're booted. 87 or higher to automatically be accepted to second year RN.
Also that math. Oi... My 8 year old can figure that out. That's scary really. I want a nurse taking care of me that won't potentially kill me with an overdose. :/
Sorry Emily but to put it bluntly you need to take a few math courses then reapply to the nursing program.

I think if you use the search function you can find threads with plenty of programs that have "that low" of a passing grade for a nursing course.
I didn't mean it in a bad way. I guess my college just has higher standards. I know it's one of the toughest colleges in the state. I also assumed most nursing programs were around the same grading scale. I personally wouldn't want someone that passed with a 71%, with 70 and under being the cut off, taking care of me but that's just me. I have had a lot of nurses care for me and even some I have worked with that I seriously questioned how they even passed the program let alone the NCLEX. :/
