Did I fail the NCLEX 265

Published

Im literally freaking out right now. The first half of the test went good. I got 5 SATA questions in a row and saw that as getting a lot right.

But then the test didn't stop at 75.

It kept going. And then I got the simple content questions, where they literally asked me if it's safe for an adolescent to wear a seatbelt. I must have missed a lot of questions to get a question like that.

Finally I was at questions 265. I really had to pee, and the person watching the testers was not responding to me waving my hand literally in the air to go so I had given up on the restroom an hour earlier. My last question seemed to be a content question to me and I KNOW I failed it. I don't know if I can post it here or not but it was simple and I know I chose the wrong answer....

So my question is... if I failed the last question at 265 did I fail the NCLEX?

Some data on my exam (I literally counted on my erase board):

42 SATA

1 Hotspot

1 Medication Math

2 Put these in order

DON'T post the question, just a bad plan. No one could possibly tell you for certain what "kind" of question it was, and you risk being held accountable for an NCLEX breach.

Getting the last question right or wrong is irrelevant when you've gone the distance, as you did. If you got it right, but it was below the passing standard, doesn't matter. If you got it wrong, but it was above the passing standard...you get the idea. One person's "easy" question is another one's "hard" question, so don't freak out about that. Your question was your question.

At the end of the exam, if the computer determines to a 95% certainty that you were above the passing standard (demonstrated competency) at the time it shut off, you will have passed. If not...you will have failed.

At this point, take a breather, focus on something else for awhile, and clear your head.

Goodluck!

I couldn't agree more with this response! Simply put, no one can tell you whether or not you passed or failed just by the last question you received. If you're really anxious and would like to see if you truly passed or not, you can always try the PVT trick. You may use your credit card but change the expiration date and security code.

I took my NCLEX this past Friday in the state of California. I, too, received all 265 questions. I sat there for the entire 6 hours and answered question #265 with only about 20 seconds left on the clock. After the computer shut off, I completed the survey and left the exam center knowing that I had failed! Several hours after I got home, I decided to end my misery by doing the trick, and there it was...the good pop up! I couldn't believe my eyes. Sunday morning, my friend texted me a screenshot of my name and "Registered Nurse" right next to it.

Best piece of advice I can give you is to chill! It's all over, you did your best, and what's done is done. Hoping for the best for you! Hang in there!

Do we know if questtions about food are above or below the passing line? Im just wondering because Kaplans course has questions all above the passing line and a lot of questions would ask about food.

For the love of all that's holy, stop fixating on food! Seriously....three posts in a row! As has been said, no one can tell you whether your food question was above passing or below. Look up Bloom's Taxonomy, that'll keep your mind off food questions for awhile ;)

As for Kaplan, and having their questions about food being above passing standard, what if a question were to ask "True/False: A patient who is scheduled for bowel-resection surgery in two hours may be given a low-sodium ham sandwich and a carbonated beverage, but only if he is hungry". Pretty sure that's below passing standard ;)

I passed at 265 and so did 4 other people I know! Try to just remain as calm as possible even though I know it seems more than impossible to do at this point. Stay positive!

I can't even start to imagine how you feel...Just cross fingers, PRAY and stay positive- Best of luck!

it's been 48 hours and still no results posted. I studied 8 hours a day for 4 weeks straight >:/.

I passed with 200 questions...was brutal..try and relax..hope you made it...being a retaker, i know how you feel...

Just breathe and keep hope alive!!!!...At this point you are doing yourself a great disservice by worrying...which cannot change anything at this point!!!!...I pray you receive a good news.It is well

If your state participates in quick results try that now. I saw you posted about the SATA questions, a SATA question in itself is not a higher level question, SATA can be both low level questions or be the high level question, it is just a different format. Once you have the results you can move on to the next steps. I understand that you are anxious to know your results, go on a run, read a fun book (non-nursing), play some games, anything to try and ease your mind

All getting 265 questions means is that you got 265 questions.

Also, it wouldn't make sense for the NCLEX to hinge solely on getting the last question right. I remember reading somewhere (wish I could recall where) that they look at how you did on the last 60 or so questions to determine if you were above passing standard. It's not logical for them to put you through 265 questions to make the pass/fail decision JUST based on that final question.

All you can really do right now is wait. Try to relax...easier said than done, I know.

Best of luck.

So I went to check BREEZE today to see if I was listed in the registry and noticed my testing application was gone. On the left side it used to say under Applications "Testing Status: Pending" and now it's gone and it just says "Start a new application or take an exam." Does that mean I've failed?! My name still isn't under the registry...

I took the test back in the stone age i.e. paper and pencil and 3 days of sucking your brain out. Relax whats done is done and wait for the results. Good luck

Seriously, take a shot and get some rest. You're killing yourself with anxiety. You'll die before you even find out the results! (exaggerating) I'm sure it's nerve wrecking and stressful but you're asking a question that no one on this forum can answer, only to stress yourself out even more. Shot... Sleep...Well, maybe a double for u cause you've almost gone batty.
