Did anyone else see that we made it on Facebook?!

The topic was "Vent about teachers (as much as I love them)..." came across on the Nurses Rock group page. I thought it was very fitting considering it's the end of the year.

4 days left for me - Enjoy your summer!!

I kind of hate that things get put on FB. AN is pretty nurse specific, you have to go on the site and be searching for a nursing forum. FB is public, so anyone can see it, including teachers, and our vent about their non-medical judgement may cause animosity. I wouldn't ever want my patients to hear my vent. As nurses, our vents are normally harmless, it doesn't influence the care we give, but it gives us a way to decompress. IMO it should remain in the AN forum.

That is something I am always afraid of, it being posted on Facebook. If you read the comments on some of the posts people are downright mean! Usually non-medical people who have no idea what we do or what we deal with.

This executive decision has been a train wreck since day one.

I refuse to read any of the Facebook comments because of the sheer number of know it all non nurses who feel perfectly justified in throwing out the "I would never want any of you to take care of my Snowflakes and loved ones because you don't fit my preconceived notions of how nurses should think and feel" crap that raises my blood pressure and makes me want to bite someone.

I agree with all of you. It has and will continue to limit my posting since I found out. Actually, I've barely been back here to even lurk. It's unfortunate because I'm brand new and would like to join in with you all.

Join in. Please! No one knows who you are.

I don't say anything here I wouldn't say to anyone's face, and I'll also rebut anyone and stand by my words. Oh, and I'm not on FB. So, I have less of a problem with it.

Personal threads, like if one of us has a real issues we are dealing with, and looking for support? I'd like them to leave those off. Because, as School Nurses, we are each other's support system here.

The few times we have specifically asked the Mods to leave those posts off FB, they have.

Come play with us! :)

I have more careful about identifying items...geographical etc. I also pared down my profile...

Maybe this post should make it to FB?

This is absolutely true!!! A few years ago I deleted my membership on Facebook because of just this reason: "friends" don't always understand our lives as nurses, and honestly, I don't even want to participate in all the drama of Facebook that is NOT related to nursing. I can't tell you how often I hear people say their feelings were hurt or they were angry over some post a friend or relative made on Facebook! I suspect most of the time these "offending" posts were not intended to hurt any one, but drama ensues! This forum (AN) is actually the ONLY social media I participate in, and I have to say that I'm happier not always looking to say what was posted by,/about my family and friends. I know not everyone feels this way. Lots of people thoroughly enjoy their Facebook time, and that's great. You just have to be SO careful what gets posted there to keep from hard feelings and drama. (IMHO)
