My 16 yr old is already addicted. We've caught him with 7 different times with a JUUL. SEVEN! I have tried everything but nothing has worked. I'm at a loss. He's a good kid but none of the punishments have phased him.
  2. My background is post partum. I never knew how much I don't know until I became a school nurse! The kids aren't near as bad as the adults that think I should know EVERYTHING! It is so frustrating and made me feel insecure my first couple of years. Not anymore..I tell staff they can google just like me.
  3. That is absurd. I have a door to my office with a sign that reads "Please do not enter if the nurse has a student in her office. This is a STATE law." The sign was here before me.

When I was little I would purposely get splinters just so I could get them out. (such a weirdo )
  5. Obviously I know how privacy and the internet works. What I don't know is how Facebook/allnurses works together. My question is, do you all share random threads on the Facebook page? That's how I thought it worked? And, if it is, then I would rather my threads not be shared. Thanks for any clarification. Thanks for the replies everyone. I tried to call the dr's office again with no luck. The student was absent today..I think they're trying to extend his home bound.

Tell me all you know about Solu-Cortef and adrenal insufficiency. We have a freshman that had a brain rumor removed around 5 weeks ago. He just came back from home bound today. Apparently his dx is Panhypopituitarism? Basing that on a flyer the parents gave me. I tried to call the dr office to ask questions but no one returned my call. The dr order says 'administer once for emergency situation, emesis >1, or unconscious. Then call 911 and take to ED' (which is 45-50 minutes away)... I know nothing about this guys! What can you tell me?
  7. Lord have mercy. What did you do?? I would be caught off guard and not know what to say. But, I think that is something that could totally happen to me at some point!

I had a frequent flier come to me complaining of dizziness last year. Found a dead spider in her ear. I called her momma to take her to the dr since I didn't know if I was allowed to attempt it.
  9. Oh, I'll be a mess! This is my daughter's senior year and I've known lots of these kids since preschool.
  10. I agree with all of you. It has and will continue to limit my posting since I found out. Actually, I've barely been back here to even lurk. It's unfortunate because I'm brand new and would like to join in with you all.
  11. Well that stinks.
  12. I'm curious about the Facebook comment... Are these threads posted there? I hope your day gets better SullyRN! (I'm grumpy today also.)
  13. This.
  14. We had steak, baked potato, salad and 3 different homemade cakes for teacher appreciation week. Then I was surprised by a banner and flowers from the office staff and a poster with candy from the HOSA class. Today was a good day! (and NO pseudoseizures all week tops it off!)
  15. Oh, you've caught me on a good day!
