Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.
Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?
The two programs are very different though. The UCLA program leads to a MSN and the training to become a Clinical Nurse Leader. My understanding is that you have to get experience before you can actually put that training to use.The CSULA program, however, expects you to begin working as a nurse (after passing the NCLEX, at the end of the 5th quarter). Then continues onto the Masters phase while you are working/getting experience as a nurse. At the end of this program, you get an MSN with a specialization as a nurse practitioner (since you would have already accumulated sufficient hours of clinical experience as a RN). CSULA has always been my first choice--I will be devastated if I don't get in there.
I guess, but I assume you have to be just as competitive as an applicant for both programs!
Good luck, I hope you get in to CSULA!
I have been reading this post forever now, and I decided that I needed to join in. I am also an applicant to the MECN program. I have been waiting for my decision in the mail as well. I am not at home, but a family member is on his way to check the mail for me. I will keep you all updated on the decision status. I live in Southern California, so I am pretty close to UCLA. Though I do have a friend that lives close by, who did not receive a decision in the mail today. She also gets her mail at like nine in the morning, so we will see..........
I am very curious as to why they didn't post a decision under the check decision status link on the graduate page, if a decision has already been made.....
I don't understand that either, but apparently they change a while after everyone recieves the paper format.
I guess it takes a while to fill in 500+ applicants decision status!
