Did anyone apply to UCLA's MECN Program for Fall 2009?

Published

Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.

Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?

Makes perfect sense. Thank you.

Sarah, When did you get that e-mail exactly? I totally understand the defense mechanism. I've already accepted the fact that I probably will not get in, even though I feel I am qualified, but at least this way it can be a surprise if I did. I'm really not sure how they are picking from such a huge pool of applicants. Seems like a very very hard thing to do. It's like when the American Idol judges pick the top 30. Ok, totally unrelated but still. I'm starting to feel for the people who get rejected on the show :(

Let's keep crossing fingers.

Also, if there's anyone out there who is not a registered user and got an acceptance letter, PLEASE register and let us know! Muchas gracias!

Thanks Sarah, Do you all have fall back programs? I assume this is all your first choice?

No problem!

Yep I got that email last week from Shelli.

Haha yeah I don't understand how they can pick from almost 500 applicants who are probably more than qualified. Respect to them for having to do that, it'd be a tough job!

I'm still yet to hear from western and USF. But naturally UCLA is my first choice.

I applied to CSUF, CSULA & CSUDH. I was hoping to get words today since CSUF interview is tomorrow. I'd get feel much better going in if I got accepted to UCLA. Only other hand, if I got rejected, I'd be feeling pretty down going into the interview. CSULA interview is next week. So it's going to be pretty tense week.

I think we probably all qualify to go to med school. Frankly, I never thought it would be this hard to go to nursing school.

Wow good luck with all your interviews, I'm sure you'll do great!

That's very true, I'm so shocked how competitive nursing school is in the states.

Good luck on both interviews! It's probably better that you don't know before the interview so you can give it your best shot. Would you choose CSULA's program over UCLA since that would lead you to be an NP? That's also a competitive program, right?

p.s. I ended up going home to check the mail and nothing. :( I hope this is not a bad sign.

To be honest, I don't know much about NP. I don't think there is NP in CA. When I went to CSUF seminar, they said that there is not much job market. They probably said that because they don't offer NP, but I never came across NP too.

I'm starting to think that I should have put my hobbies on my resumé.. But I doubt that would've made a huge difference.

Nonsense. I think you should have put your hobbies on. In fact, that's probably how they choose who got the fellowships. Now you've blown it. There goes your future.
