Did anyone apply to UCLA's MECN Program for Fall 2009?

Published

Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.

Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?

Nonsense. I think you should have put your hobbies on. In fact, that's probably how they choose who got the fellowships. Now you've blown it. There goes your future.

LOL!! I like your sense of humour... And there I was thinking Americans don't know how to do sarcasm! :p

You guys are too funny!!! msnapplicant, someone else told me the same thing about NPs, actually I few people. I heard there is more of a market for PAs. Sarah you are so funny: hobbies!!! I like to sing and dance in the rain!

lol, "Let's take her! She likes to knit!"

Probably 80 percent of their applicants are qualified and could get a lot from the program. I think they are just trying to build a diverse class. It's like casting a sitcom. Sarah, I think your quirky British neurosis already gives you an unfair advantage. I don't feel sorry for you at all.

Hahaha I just meant that sometimes extracurricular activities can set you apart from other applicants, for example I play the piano to a high standard and have competed in concerts and I write poetry and I've had my poems published as well as being a finalist in a national competition.

Plus I was a finalist in the Miss England competition and raised a lot of money for cancer research.

I don't know about the states, but in the UK employers and universities like to hear about what you get up to in your free time!

lol! Well kitty I think your humour is fantastic, you get my vote! ;)

Thank you. I should have put that on my hobbies!

Oh bugger, I should of put them on :/

Haha I'm not famous, the UK doesn't make a big deal about it like the states does.

Yeah, I think thoese are all more than resume-worhty. Those are pretty awesome accomplishments.

Well, you're famous to me :) Enjoy the fame. If we are in the same program, you have to promise to play piano and read a poem for the class (all while wearing a crown).

This brings back those days when I would go check the mail 20 times a day when waiting for undergrad decisions, but this is soooooo important!!!
