Did anyone apply to UCLA's MECN Program for Fall 2009?

Published

Just wondering if anyone else applied to this program. I went to UCLA for undergrad but I pretty much think I have no shot of getting into this grad program.

Does anyone know anything about how many people they admit? What they are looking for?

I watched yesterday a good old moive, 'The spy who came in from the cold'

Only the problem is that it was very depressing, and I am still in down mood (& unsure that I'll hear good news today) . I could use some positive energy

6-8 weeks! If you can wait that long, you are brave soul.

sarah you will find out before 6-8 weeks!!! msnapplicant be positive, watch a comedy, go watch confessions of a shopaholic. its funny!

I wish I had enough courage to go ask in person, but I can't bother someone as nice as Shelli. We will know soon, right? Positive energy everyone!!!

Shelli is lovely, I always felt bad for bothering her cause I know how busy she is. Bless her.

Haha I'm not brave, I'd just convince myself I didn't get in.. I'm already 90% there to believing that anyway!

I just got some junk mails but nothing from UCLA. (by junk mail, I mean 2 Netflix movies, but right now anything that's not from UCLA is junk mail)

Maybe they didn't send it yesterday, or maybe I didn't get in. Dying to find it out. I guess that means another day of mail stalking.

Well these are Shelli's exact words to me:

"Decisions will be made on Monday. I plan to send out notifications by mail next week."

Some of us might not receive anything till next week!

I assumed that she would start mailing on Tuesday and start with accpetance letters. But from the wording, it appears that she will not mail anything this week. That's a long wait.

BTW, did anyone also apply to CSUDH's MEPN program? They have some weird system of rolling deadlines. I had an interview last December, but haven't heard from them since then. Is it normal to have 3 months pass after interview without any notification? (I since then contacted them about sending transcript for Fall grades, and I was told to send it ASAP. But that was it.)

From reading previous years threads, it seems all the acceptance letters go out first and the ones that have been rejected are the last to hear.

The more I wait and hear nothing, the more I think they've sent acceptances out and I haven't received it yet cause I've been rejected!

But from what she said to you, she says that mail will be sent next week. Right?

Anyway, they obvisoulsy haven't sent letter at least before yesterday, so why think you are rejected? I don't think there is any reason you should think that way. Stay positive.

Well she said she'd be sending mail out this week.

I just doubt they'll understand the UK grading system, I got rejected by Azusa cause they didn't understand it, so I don't have high hopes.

Plus if I think of the worst thing that can happen, I can prepare myself to not feel too bad if I get rejected.. It's a defensive mechanism!

But naturally, if I get accepted I'd be over the moon.

Sarah, I'm a bit confused.

If Shelli said, "Decisions will be made on Monday. I plan to send out notifications by mail next week." Wouldn't it mean next week? Did she say something else to indicate otherwise? If so, what are exact words?

We are hungry for any information

BTW, I'm sure UCLA gets more internatonal applicants than Azusa and know about UK system. Cheers

Shelli sent me that email on february 26th (last week) so I assume her saying 'next week' means this week, since she sent me that email last week! ... If that makes sense?
