Dialysis staff nurse salary in US

Published

Hello,

I just want to ask if anyone here knows the salary or an average salary of a dialysis staff nurse in New York or in any other state in US? Thanks. :)

Hi! Likewise, I find it hard to believe that RNs can possibly be paid with a very low wage. You certainly have a point, but on the other side, I thought I might as well accept this job- earn a bit, and get the most experience! Otherwise, I will forever search and apply to employers who would not hire RNs that doesnt have a minimum experience of 1yr in acute setting!!

I get what you're saying.. with the market that is right now it's hard for someone without experience to find a job. I really hope that works out for your and they bump you up a whole lot once you get passed your 3 months probation.

Specializes in PD,Nxstage,hemo.

There's no way on earth you should be making less than a PCT makes......something's not adding up..........

Yes, as a trained Economist, competition is the big key. :)

Specializes in Nephrology.

This has to be intern, or PCT pay. This does not meet the minimum pay of any major company.

I ran a chronic unit in Clearwater FL for FMC and it depends on experience an education level. Also location is big, Florida is one of the lowest paying. CA and MN are high paid.

Specializes in ICU, previously Dialysis.

Bonnie,

I think OP knows that ;) we've all been putting what we actually make bc it's been interesting to see the differences.

As a dialysis nurse in Alaska...i dont feel im paid the best. True enough ive been an LPN got 7 years, and an RN for a year. I have been in dialysis 8 months as an RN and make between 28-29 per hour. Questions or comments???

That seems pretty good. Do you get more for overtime or being on call?

Just got hired at my first RN job with 10 years experience as a COTA/L, no RN experience, dialysis clinic on North Shore in MA, 29/hr.

I was pretty darn happy with 29/hour, with time and a half overtime, 3 loooooong days, but 4 days off with my little one. I'm excited for the challenge and psyched someone gave me the chance! It's tough for a new grad out there.

That is a great start for a new grad, well done. Nephrology is ripe with opportunity to provide great care and build a career.

Thank you SO much for saying that. I've been reading the posts here and it got me so nervous at first, but finally decided that I'd choose this position over the RN administrator at a latency age short term acute psych home. I'm still in school, hoping to get my MSN, and while all the complaints got to me, I still think clinically this was the best decision for me. I enjoy being challenged, busy, and FINALLY having a way to support me and the little one independently...priceless:) Thanks for the positive feedback!
