Denver School of Nursing July 2014 Start

Published

Hello, My name is Sierra and wanted to start this thread for students applying to DSN and students at DSN to ask questions and such. I would like to talk to others applying!

I want to start off by asking: Since DSN does not have an online application process, we are supposed to send in our application materials. We can apply from November 15- January 1st. I know that the sooner the better send sending in applications, but don't know if I should/ could send in my application that Monday, the 11th? What do you guys think?

I am sorry, I really hope that you get in. I just sent in my application for the ASN October start start date last week. I am kind of freaking out. My gpa is only 2.9, I do volunteer at a hospital but I don't have my CNA or anything else;( Can you tell me what gpa you had when you applied? Good luck!

I had a 3.1 but that being said I did have to retake some classes ! But I do suggest you volunteer somewhere or take your CNA course it always helps your chances :)

Thanks Stephanie. I do volunteer at a hospital, but I should get my CNA. I have sent in my application so I may have to wait;( I hope I see a post from you that reads... "I got accepted"!!

If you volunteer then that gives you a leg up! Don't sorry I'm sure you will get on of not they have other cohorts to help you get in :)

I have my interview all scheduled!!! I'm looking forward to this wonderful opportunity!!! Can't wait to meet everyone :)

Yes! Finding apartments down there is a pain! And finding a roommate is even more difficult...

Hey akeefner,

What start date did you apply for? For me, my start date is April 2014 but that also depends whether or not I get my loans and stuff officially processed. Let me know if you need a roommate because I'm also searching for one or two as well. I'll be coming from California so Denver will be a brand new experience for me. Good-luck!

I received an email on feb 6 letting me know that I have been accepted for an interview. My interview date will be April 11. Does anyone have any idea how they select people with a prior bachelors degree? From what I understand, one of the biggest aspects of the interview date was taking the hesi entry exam, but it also look like this will be the first start date not requiring everyone to take the exam. I'll be sure to post here again with further details about my own experience and how that may apply to others with prior bachelors degrees.

Looking forward to meeting future classmates!

I just had my interview today for April start date, I applied for the July cohort but got moved forward. My admissions rep said that starting with the July cohort, individuals with a prior bachelors degree will not have to take the hesi exam. I really enjoyed my interview and tour! It was great to see the other students in class and in lab. The school gave off a really friendly atmosphere! I have a prior bachelors degree but since I was moved to the April cohort I will be taking my hesi test Wednesday.

Good luck!!

How did your interviews go? I have mine set for 3/4. I just want to get in! :) Hope it went well!

Hey Shel, Did they tell you other requirement/changes after the July start date besides students with a prior bachelor's degree not having to take the HESI?

My interview was really good! My admissions rep just explained the schools accreditation, paper work that I need to turn in, class schedule for the next 21 months, I briefly talked to some on in financial aid, and got a tour. It's really relaxed. I dressed business casual. I asked to take my hesi test Monday 2/19. You are basically in if you have an interview. You just need to pass the hesi test and figure out how you will pay for school. After the hesi test I will go back to my admissions rep and sign a form for enrollment and take my student ID picture. Then I have to set up a time to meet with financial aid.

my admissions rep didn't say anything else about other requirements to get in the school. She just looked at my transcripts and said I had everything I needed.
