Hello, My name is Sierra and wanted to start this thread for students applying to DSN and students at DSN to ask questions and such. I would like to talk to others applying!
I want to start off by asking: Since DSN does not have an online application process, we are supposed to send in our application materials. We can apply from November 15- January 1st. I know that the sooner the better send sending in applications, but don't know if I should/ could send in my application that Monday, the 11th? What do you guys think?
Mine said that 2 weeks after the interview we take the entrance exam, but nothing about finalizing paperwork. I'm guessing as long as we pass the test we're in. It sounds like they just want to make sure everything is together (Imms, final transcripts..). I'm preeetty sure we're in lol Just have to pass that test.
Hi Jenbun02!congrats on getting your email! I talked to some of my friends who are already in the a program at DSN and they said that basically you are in as long as you get an interview and pass your hesi exam! And once you pass the exam you sign papers for enrollment. I applied for the July cohort too but they had open spots and moved me to the April cohort. I have my interview on the 17th of this month. I heard that the interview is just more in depth information about the school and the admissions rep does all of the talking. But I am still nervous for my hesi exam! Good luck!
I wish I had a degree already, I'm nervous to study for the HESI exam that will probably be in mid April, right when we're getting ready for finals! I'm taking AP2, Micro and a communications class, April is going to be stressful! But I"m just soo so so so thankful I got the interview! I was worried that since I didn't have ALL my prereqs done before the application deadline, that they would tell me to apply for October start. I'm going to start studying for the exam with my Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam book.
Nursinghopeful233, you should be just fine with your study guide. I have previously taken the hesi for a different nursing school application process and the test was not bad. I am sure you will do just fine. The test is over basic math and English. I would brush up on the basic math and really know fractions, ratios, and common conversions. Also, I believe that you do not need to have your CPR certification until you start clinicals. But you can email the school and find out. Reading the handbook was really helpful!! It's on the main website page on the left side. Good luck!!
We'll I got my letter in the mail saying I'm an alternate which really sucks considering I will have my associates of pre nursing this quarter , have taken my CNA course , HIV blood pathogen training , CPR and work in a medical clinic :/ I have tried everything to make me a good candidate I can only think about retaking classes as my downfall which I had to do for a few considering I work full time during school and an only 21 talk about stress I hope somehow I get offered a spot congrats to those who got in and good luck
