Denied by the California BON....help

Published

I graduated BSN in the Philippines 2007 After taking the exam 2x they re-evaluate my application and found out that i did not qualify to take the exam. I found out that my cases did not meet there requirements.

1st question: Do you think i can still be eligible to apply to another state like florida?

2nd question: Can i apply for LVN?

Please. Any advice????

Thanks.

Nobody here can answer those questions for you. You must submit your application and papers to the board of nursing for review.

Why did you not qualify in CA?Chances are, whatever disqualified you there will continue to be in an issue in other states. Most have similar requirements.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

CA recently have changed some of their requirements and we have seen some who previously qualified, failed NCLEX are reassessed and told they no longer meet requirements

What do you think the best thing to do?? Honestly i don't know where to start.

they really changed a lot esp. the req.

You could try another state, we haven't seen any postings of nurses from the Philippines having issues with other states. I think the issue may arise if CA is where you plan on working as they may still require the things they have now denied you on when endorsing a license

You could attempt to take the NCLEX-PN instead and in California, LVN's fall under a separate board from the RN's. You may download the application from the website but you should contact the BVN directly for specific questions regarding your case. Their website is: BVNPT - Vocational Nurse Licensure Application Forms

The Board of Registered Nursing has been particularly scrutinizing of clinical rotations from graduates of Philippine nursing programs with the claim that the OR, L&D, and nursery rotations were not held concurrently with lectures. Some were told that their Psychiatric Nursing rotations did not meet California's requirement. I don't think it's necessarily the fact that you failed the NCLEX-RN twice in the past. The current pool of IEN applicants in California are ones who already have a US SSN, many of whom are previous test takers who weren't quite successful on their first attempt.

Should you decide to take the NCLEX-RN in another state (which is definitely an option in your case), be prepared to make that state your home because you will still have a hard time endorsing an out of state RN license to California given that they already determined that you didn't meet their requirements for licensure.

Hi.juan dela cruz,Yeah thats what exactly happened to me I am a greencard holder but I havent taken the exam in the.philippines. Im thinking of applying in florida but im worried they might have the same requirement as.california. Do u know anybody have the same issue?tnx

THanks for this info. Seeking license in another state may be a good step but endorsing license to Ca might be harder.

Try also to ask some information for New York. I talked to one of the evaluator for CFNS and NY BON, they don't need a license in the PI. You just need need to meet their requirements or what they need. You can PM if you want
