Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?
The time has finally started to pass more quickly!!! Thank goodness! I am resigned to the fact that it will at least be October 15th before we know. I can't believe we've finally made it to the teens.
I agree with Fun2Care and others. I will either be too excited if I'm accepted, or too depressed if I'm rejected to focus as I should on the 2 courses I am taking. So maybe its is better not to know yet. NOT REALLY!!!!
I am currently taking my last support course (Micro), as well as a History course for my BSN. I have spent a year making sure I get an "A" in everything so I have a chance of getting accepted. Once I get my first B, I am going to freak out!!! I know I won't be able to make all A's in the nursing program, but it will be hard to get the first one. There is so much to worry about! It is actually really fun to challenge yourself. Other than being extremely impatient, I am enjoying this journey.
Good luck to everyone!!!!!
I have not made anything less than an A in 3 years. That is all the way through a Surigcal tech program, support classes at the community college and university and Masters degree classes.
Everyone has told me nurisng school is a different animal and is very tough, so I have decide to loosen up a bit on my expectations. I am going to try for A's in all my clinical classes and be happy with a B in all the other nursing classes.
I still want to do well, but I will take a few B's if it gets me through with my sanity, a clean house and time to exercise!
Wow! That's really great. I hope I can do as well. I will keep doing my best and striving for A's, but I want to avoid becoming a wreck if I make a B at some point.
I never cared about anything but passing until I decided to become an RN. It was weird at first. Then, the longer I talked to everyone, the more worried I became about whether I had a chance or not. Someone I talked to claimed they were rejected from El Centro with a 4.0. That really had me depressed until, upon further questioning, I found out she had 2 B's in her prereq's. NOT a 4.0!
I guess I'll find out in 19 short days!!!!! It's nice to know I'm not the only one out there obsessing about my letter and my GPA!
I have made all A's since I started for my ADN, but as y'all know I have a B in Algebra from 2002, and a B in American Lit from 1992.
So, 3.77/3.82 is my best offer. I don't want to take Algebra over again if I don't have to.
I just hope I can manage an A, or at least a B in this chemistry class!! lol
I have my last Chemistry exam on the October 19th, so hopefully I'll be able to concentrate.
Do you already have CPR card? I have read that it is needed for applying.Do you know any place that have cheap CPR class?
Katie
Were yall aware that DCCCD requires that you CPR cards be maintained ANNUALLY, as opposed to Bi- Anually. Yes, its a pain, but what can ya do. Just dont get your CPR till right before yoiu enter program.
Just a thought from a DCCCD'er

OH yeah, and you have to get the CPR for Health professionals....not just any ol' CPR. I *almost* made that mistake my freshman yr.

ECC/NLC requires it to be replaced before your 3rd semester, whether or not it expires after that.
BHC, I believe, requires it every year.
**Welcome, Shanna** Congrats & good luck on the NCLEX, and your future career! :)
I took the CPR for health prof. class at Brookhaven in August, because it was required for application.Shanna349, are you in the El Centro/North Lake program?

yeah our whole class griped about how our cards didnt expire for a whole year, but we were told it was a DCCCD thing, not just a BHC req'mt.
