Dcccd 2006
Im not putting anyone at fault for it. I actually totally agree with it. I was just expressing what I heard most of my class complain about when renewal time approached. I understand 100% with the reasoning of hospitals and schools requiring the annual renewal as opposed to the bi-annual date thats on the card. I think what happened was the bomb about CPR renewal was dropped on us when we were already forking out so much money and we weren't given time to prepare. But then again, I've learned that asking for a nursing school without surprises is well....asking FAR too much hahaha

Dcccd 2006
The score went up after the year I applied. I would venture to say that you need at least a 21 on your HESI (86 or above?) and definatly ALL your supports completed to give you a good shot at placement to the interview process. ...but then again, you never know who's applying, so dont hesitate to turn it in cuz it cant hurt! Dont worry about AP. and no, the review did not help much as far as content of questions. Study the basics of AP in your AP book. Good Luck!!!

Were yall aware that DCCCD requires that you CPR cards be maintained ANNUALLY, as opposed to Bi- Anually. Yes, its a pain, but what can ya do. Just dont get your CPR till right before yoiu enter program. Just a thought from a DCCCD'er Grad RN Dec '05

needing help making decision on hlhs baby
I am a mother of a child born with HLHS in 2000- my entire reason for being a nurse. If you pm me, perhaps we can discuss your options in more detail- afterall, whos a better pro at it than a nurse AND mother.

Share Your Saying
I giggled when I saw this one... "Health nuts are going to feel pretty foolish lying around in the hospital dying of nothing." -unknown

Are nursing students allowed to give IV push meds?
I'm in Texas in an ADN/RN school in my last semester. NO to IV push meds-ever is the rule I've had to follow. Saline push is allowed. We are not allowed to touch central lines. Again, this varies state to sate, school to school, and hospital to hospital. I've personally seen LVNs push IV meds but they must obtain RN consent prior to admin. LVNs are limited due to licensing and legal regulations. Hope this helps _____- GN on Dec 15th '05 wOOt!!!!

Stupid Things that get you kicked out of nursing school
I AM! I'm a Brookhaven senior. No GPA contest, no long waiting list. I know I can't mention any names here, but all I will say is that our school is the best ADN program I know of in DFW. I'm a little biased...hehe

Stupid Things that get you kicked out of nursing school
Wow. I feel so fortunate after reading these horror stories. Med calc was easy. Miss no more than 3. Retries were accepted. Clinicals have been a wonderful experience. They dont even care if your shoes are white or not. We wear green scrubs with our school logo and name embroidered on the front unless the hospital has a different policy. Everything has been a great experince and we have lost none to anything unreasonable. The instructors take suggestions and try their best to accomidate. Is this rare for a nursing school? Dec '05 Grad
