Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?
Hi! I live in Rowlett so I am right by I-30. I like that it is a straight shot to El Centro. I was thinking of the DART rail but than again I also like to have a vehicle right by me in case anything pops up and not have to wait for the rail to come and take me. I believe El Centro does have parking passes where you can get a discounted price for parking. Do you live close to El Centro? I will let you know too and good luck to you!! Hopefully we will both be accepted!! I am getting so nervous!!
Hello! I live in Deep Ellum right outside of downtown. I work smack in the middle of downtown and right next door to El Centro. I am getting SO nervous! I really hope we can both get accepted. Where did you take your pre-reqs.? I took everything at El Centro. I applied last year but I had received a B in A&P. The only B on my WHOLE transcript so I didn't get in. I retook it and passed with flying colors. I am hoping I got everything. I am just worried I didn't fill something out right and all this and that.
I have a friend that just started this semester and she had to quit her job because it was too much to work and go through the program. I am hoping I won't have to do that!!!
Hopefully we can become study buddies!!!
Hi and welcome to Allnurses.com, faceinbooks82!My first choice is NLC b/c I live in the Arlington/Mansfield area.
Good luck to you!
Thank you :) Nice to meet you!
I would go to NL but my husband and I share a car and I wouldn't be able to consistently make it to NLC. It's a beautiful campus though!!
I grew up in the Arlington/Mansfield area! Right off of Sublett and Cooper.
This wait is driving me NUTS! Good luck to you!!!!

Has anyone joined Phi Theta Kappa at your college? I am currently VP of Service for the el Centro chapter and it's a great thing to be a part of especially if you want to transfer to further your nursing education. They give out awesome scholarships. I would look into it if you haven't already!
I'm getting worried. So many of y'all have 4.0's! The only thing I have going for me is that I have all of my supporting classes as well.
I'm wondering if I need to think up a new signature......."Fall '06 Nursing Student...150 Days to find out!" ugggggh I hope not!
...AND....if I do have to wait, I still will have a 3.77 b/c I'm not taking Algebra over again this semester. So, I may not get in for Fall.
Oh, this is driving me batty
as well!! I'm wondering if I will get in, and if I do get in where will I get in.
More than likely with a 4.0, if ECC is your first choice, you will not have a problem getting in at ECC. NLC only takes 40 of the 110, so it's harder to get into NLC, especially with a 3.77.
Hi! Study buddies are always good!! That is how I am getting by in Chemistry because of study buddies!! I went to Eastfield mostly to get my pre-reqs since it is just down the highway from me. My husband's second job is actually in Deep Ellum. I have been thinking of getting a job but have heard that having a job and going to nursing school is crazy and that you just can't do it so my husband is having to work 2 jobs. Yeah I am worried that I did something wrong but I went over and over my application before turning it in but it still worries me that I did something wrong. The closer we get to the date of the letters being sent, the more nervous I am!!! :uhoh21:

I thought I had it figured all out. I am not going to apply until 2010 when my youngest start kinder, so I figured that I would go ahead and take the pre and coreqs for both el centro and brookhaven. I am not sure if I should do this or just take spanish for the last two years that I would be waiting. On one hand, if I finished all the classes for both programs, i might stand a better chance of getting accepted on my first try( but only if I keep my grades up. Patho, dosage calculations and the other 2 classes - I am not looking forward to these classes). On the other, if I take spanish and become more fluent I would possibly earn more money in the long run ( this would also allow me to keep my gpa up since I understand more than I am able to speak). Any suggestions?:selfbonk:
You are doing exactly what I am doing. I am taking all pre-reqs and all support courses so that I will be ready to apply for 2010, when my youngest also starts kinder. Good luck!!

NO! NO! NO! You cannot think like that!!!!!!!!!!! You have an AWESOME GPA and it sucks because you know a university would love to have you and all of us. They make this so friggin' hard for us that can't afford a university!
I just know you will get in especially having all of your support courses out of the way. :)
However, tell me what school, in your WHOLE life, hasn't asked for further "dishin' out the dough"? LOL
Yesterday, I have read in the NLC newspaper that DCCCD will increase tuition next year. The increase is $3 for in-county, $6 for out-of-county and $10 for out-of-state students per credit hour.
Katie
Another increase?????? OMG! My out-of-county rates are going to go from $50 to $56?
I really will be huffing and puffing to try to make it money wise at the end of the two years.
Tuition already increased twice since I turned in my application for my scholarship. This will be the third time, plus the jump in tuition because I had to move out of county.
faceinbooks82: Thank you. That's what I keep telling myself, and why I have taken most of my classes as fast-tracks. I wanted them all finished when I applied to boost my chances of getting in. I sure hope it's good enough! :)
Either NLC or ECC, if I get in, I know I'll be with others on here that really want this as much as I do. We can all keep each other's motivation up! :)
