Daytona State January 09?

Published

Hi,

I just got my acceptance letter for Daytona State (formerly DBCC) for January YEA!! This was my second time applying, I am so thankful I got in and so excited to get started.

So, is anyone else out there starting in January in Daytona?

Did you make it to orientation? I thought it was pretty informative, I got the classes I wanted, thankfully, Daytona-Days. I just finished ordering all of the books too, did it online, mostly used for about $190.

Yep, I was there. That microphone was driving me a little nutty. I'm in Daytona Nights, which is what I wanted as well. Where did you buy your books online. I was planning on doing the same thing. $190 is not bad for that many books.

Yea, the microphone was a little annoying. I got my books on Amazon.com. Just type the ISBN # into the search box and the right book will come up. I bought mostly used but in "new" condition. I have had a lot of luck doing that in the past.

I am just curious, what was everyones gpa? I didn't get accepted twice and the semester before that, DSC didn't take applications for the ADN program. I have had all of my pre-reqs done for quite sometime now. I am just waiting!!

I have a 3.0 but that is also including my gpa from a four year degree at FSU. If you look at my GPA just for my prereqs at DSC, I think it would be a 3.7. How are your NET scores? Also, are you sure that you have taken all of the prereqs and aren't missing one? What has your adviser said about your chances when you have him/her put everything together for you?

Similar to Nick, 3.1 overall but 4.0 on prereqs. If you don't have a regular adviser you like try Rina Madina, she was great, she made sure all my stuff was in order, made phone calls to dept heads or me, stuff like that. She has also sat on the board that makes the decisions on who gets in so she knows what it takes.

Good Luck

Do you have your Co-reqs done too? That is huge!

The adviser I used was awesome.

I definitely have everything completed. I have my AA degree, I literally have nothing to take anymore! I have decided to take human growth development and sociology so I can apply to St. Johns River Community and Brevard Community. I have sat with many advisors. I actually remember sitting with a Ms. Medina, I remember this because I am from Medina, OH. She was very helpful, but this was about 2 or 3 years ago! I know so many people who have been accepted and dropped out the first semester. It doesn't seem fair that I can't get in!

Well, there has got to be something. They won't just not except you for no reason. Arrest Record? Who knows. Good luck.

hahaha.. nope... no arrest record!!! I don't know what it is!! I have a feeling that once I apply to other colleges, then I will miraculously get accepted to DSC!
