Hi,
I just got my acceptance letter for Daytona State (formerly DBCC) for January YEA!! This was my second time applying, I am so thankful I got in and so excited to get started.
So, is anyone else out there starting in January in Daytona?
Ha! Looked who showed up. I was wondering if you gave up your computer.
Anyways, I heard that about your class. I don't know how many people passed, but I also got a 76. I think that only a few people passed (maybe 6 or so) in my class. We reviewed the test this evening and there were a few questions on there that were debatable that my clinical teacher agrees on with me, so I'm hoping that I can get a couple answers changed and pass the test. Kind of disheartening considering I'm not a 70's type of tester but I'm sure we will do better. Did you go to the last skills lab? If you did, do you think it helped? I was thinking of going to this one but I'm still not sure.
Hey!
No, still have the computer just not the time... Truthfully I was a little worried about you, we heard a young guy in the night class died.
We wont review the test until next Wednesday but there is some serious hysteria going on, people are upset about some of the questions and some have dug a pretty deep hole grade wise. The added pressure of three tests in the nest two weeks doesn't help.
Glad you are doing well, 76 ain't bad considering.
Yeah, the guy that died was 29 and he sat next to me in class. He left class Tuesday night with a racing heart and didn't show up for class the next night, which was the night we had our test. One of the girls in my class tried to call him 3 times and he wasn't answering. Turns out he had died earlier that day from a heart attack. Pretty sad and scary to think about. Thanks for your concerns, it was a pretty sad ordeal.
As far as this test goes, I just don't understand what their intentions are. Our instructor said that some people may not be able to pass now because of their scores. She also told us that a large portion of the class failing the first test is normal. I have a bachelors degree and have never heard a college professor say that. I was a bit shocked, but Se La Vie!
So did you go to the last skills lab and are you planning on going to the upcoming one? Study hard this week.
Wow, that is very sad, sorry to hear it.
I have not been to one of the labs yet and I don't plan on going this weekend. One of the girls in my lab group went and they just covered the math and taking vitals. I have got the math covered (I hope) and I am OK with taking BP's as well. So I will be spending the weekend preparing for Teusdays test.
What are you all doing for clinicals? We are teaching healthy eating and exercising to 3rd graders.
My clinicals up to this point have been at a preschool. Just your normal run of the mill preschool. We're not going to go to Rimfire because you guys go during the day and there won't be anyone there at night. My next site, which starts this monday, is at Head Start, which is a preschool for low income families. The kids get fed there and they teach them proper hygiene and it is a bit more involved.
I think that our teachers write their own tests. I was thinking that it would make more sense for everyone one in their first year to take same test so that we are all held to the same standards and the teachers can be graded too. I hope we do well on the next one.
