Davis Q & A New Format for 2010

Published

Just curious if anyone else is using this and how they're doing??

I'm reviewing with Saunders Comprehensive and then Davis lets me 'itemize' a little better than the Saunders CD to take practice exam questions. I'm doing terrible, so I'm wondering if Davis is a little harder than the others.

I used Davis Q$A for my NCLEX RN prep, it helped me alot.

I will say it worth going for it. Don't worry much about your

scores, just keep on learning from it, on the D-day you will

appreciate it.

Hi, I am currently using the Davis book/CD as well as the Kaplan Strategies book. I am consistently in the 70's with the occasional high 60's or low 80's. I like it as I can choose from the computer program, the content and type of questions. I often do all Analysis/Application as they are the tougher ones. I test next week, so I hope soon to be able to emphatically say it was a successful plan of attack!!

Thanks to everyone for the info....... I am going to buy the Davis book tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

hi er1c.

Congrats!!! I am interested about the Davis 2010 book that you are using. It's hard to find the book. Thanks...

Hi there. :)

Can anyone tell me which book of La Charity are you guys reviewing? There are 2 books authored by La Charity and i kinda confused. Just to be sure i will buy the right one.

Thank you. :)

You want to get the second edition by Lacharity. Davis 2010 Q&A is by Kathleen Ohman. Both can be found at Amazon.

Congrats Kat Von B!!!! I just purchased the LaCharity and Davis 2010 book....i definitetly think Davis's questions are hard! Around how many practice questions did you do a day? Just curious...? Thanks!!!

I just took NCLEX this morning...and I must say, I've been using the Davis 2010 disk to do as many practice tests as I could. The questions seem to be relatively difficult, but I felt extremely prepared going in this morning. My one qualm about the Davis would be the percentage of alternative format questions; there were a lot of them in my practice tests, but I literally only got multiple choice and SATA questions during my NCLEX this morning! Stick with the Davis; it really is a great resource. My suggestion: take the pre-made exams and click the "Show Feedback" button after each question. It gives you the rationale, so rather than going through the entire exam and then going back, you can really absorb the information available regarding each individual question. This method seemed to work for me; my exam averages went up several percentage points each time. Also take note after the exam is graded of the left-hand sidebar - it breaks down what areas need improvement. You can customize exams with additional practice questions from the sections where weakness is noted. Hang in there and good luck studying! I definitely highly recommend the Kaplan as well - I did the Kaplan book first to learn HOW to answer the questions, then moved through the Davis and applied the information I gained from the Kaplan.

sorry for late reply:

took test last week, test shut off at 75. according to PVT, i passed! but i'm still holding out for my name to show up on the BRN before i breathe a sigh of relief. unfortunately, no quick results and my nursing program just mailed transcripts in last friday and no results until BRN gets those transcripts.

to me, Davis questions seemed much harder compared to the real thing. book recommends 75%-80%, i think scoring 65%-70% should be good. i was scoring 70%-75% consistently. good luck everyone!

btw, if anyone wants the book, PM me i don't think i need mine anymore. =)

I am sure you passed! Congrats!!!!!!!:yeah: I purchased the Davis and Lacharity books. I have to agree, Davis does have tough questions...I just started studying Davis yesterday, I am scoring 58-68%...horrible! lol...How many questions did you do a day? Any suggestions? Late October will be my second attempt at the NCLEX. Thanks for your help!!! :)

what is inside this book? is it composed of pure questions and no content review?

This book has questions only along with test strategies at the beginning of the book. It also comes with a CD which has over 4000 questions.

Ok. just exactly what i need. Is it true that you can customize the practice question in the CD software, like you can input the number of questions you like to answer, 1-265 or more?
