Hey everyone! would just like to see or hear from those waiting for the October board. its only a couple months away and im praying for good numbers! im supposed to be going for the interview pretty soon. any advice or tips? thanks!
I just had a phone interview with a Navy Nurse last Saturday. She was extremely nice and helpful. She offered me a ton of information and insight as to what Navy nursing is all about. She asked me questions based on topics like physical fitness, how well of a swimmer am I, what do I know about the navy, am I open to traveling, do I plan on making the Navy a career, what are my future goals, etc. Just be eager and express what a great opportunity it would be to be apart of the Navy as a nurse.
I just read through the thread. What is everyone referencing to that went bad last year? I tried to put in a Navy packet last year but was medically disqualified at MEPS and then my medical waiver was denied. Dumbest thing ever, denied for pancreatititis r/t gallstones, which wasn't even accurate. Then the waiver was denied, but why? Do they think I will sporadically make gallstones now that I don't have a gallbladder and get pancreatitis again?
Anyway, congrats to you guys for getting your stuff done and good luck some boards.
Dmendoza- I don't think I can get a second opinion or resubmit a waiver. Once it's denied, its denied. But waivers are branch specific. Navy denied me. I'm now working with the Army. Too late to get to this years boards, but there's always next year!! And I'm starting early to see if this MEPS BS can be sorted out.
A goal of zero DA? Whoa, how does that even happen? How do they fill their nurse quota? What other options are there anyway for entering the navy as a nurse? I know of ROTC in colleges.
Happy Packet Submitting Day everyone!!!
