  1. Also, taking classes won't help as far as preparation for anesthesia school in my opinion. It is like learning a new language and KPSA has a very specific way they teach the information.
  2. I didn't take any classes. I don't think it's worth it to retake classes unless you are below the 3.2 minimum. I know people with lower GPAs that got through. By lower I mean 3.4-3.5. It's not everything, they care about personality a lot and want people that will fit in well.
  3. Hi, I was wondering what other SRNAs are doing right now in their programs for clinical. We have been off clinical since mid-March and will most likely not return until June earliest. Are there elective cases being done at your clinical sites? Those of you who have returned to clinical, are you getting PPE/N95s provided to you? Thanks!
  4. @skippybeatz Clinicals are mostly at Kaiser facilities and those are all over. For peds and regional rotations, you will go to outside facilities. I was also sent to a non-kaiser facility for OB.
  5. Hi @skippybeatz I currently go to KPSA. It's a great program, the faculty are very knowledgeable and give you the information you need to pass boards. I have heard that other programs teach you a lot of fluff, but KPSA has a 100% NCE pass rate. They really want you to succeed and be the best CRNA. Clinical has also been great, they make sure you get a diverse experience at a lot of facilities. Because of that, you are expected to commute quite a bit. The only challenge has been its transition into a 3 year DNP program. You have to spend a fair amount of time at the CSUF campus which is far from KPSA. You also have completely different faculty at both campuses. We were the first DNP class and have been the guinea pigs. But I think things are much more ironed out for our first years and will be even moreso for future students.
  6. Thanks @loveanesthesia , you are so right in saying that my routine got me off track. I definitely need to take a step back and reassess the situation to determine if what I am about to do makes sense. I won't dwell, but I will try use this experience to help me become a better future CRNA like you said! Thanks again for your advice and uplifting words ?
  7. I'm a first year SRNA in my second clinical rotation. Today was kind of busy, 3 MAC cases before 11 am. My 4th case was a general with an LMA. I knew we weren't going to tube the patient, but I still drew up Roc for the case. During induction, I pushed my propofol and attached roc to the stopcock to give after ventilating. The MDA saw that I attached Roc to the stopcock and stopped me thankfully, but I still felt really dumb. She wasn't mean just stern about it. Anyways, I know its not the end of the world but I just couldn't believe that I was being so absentminded every step of the way. I think the stress is getting to me. Is there any advice anyone has for calming nerves in clinical/school in general? I don't want to beat myself up about it, but I want to be able to learn and improve. Thanks!
  8. Just got the call from Sandra that a spot opened up! So happy! Other alternate list people check your e-mail!!!
  9. Congrats guys!!! I was placed on the alternate list, but thankfully have been accepted into a different program.
  10. Hey guys! I feel like the instructions for the writing portion of the interview are pretty vague. Are we to come up with a program/solution to the issue presented in the abstract? Or is it more addressing the abstract issue with an idea for a study??I'm not even sure how to prepare for that without more information.
  11. Hey guys! I just got the call from Dr. Canale and she is recommending for admittance! So excited and can't wait!!!
  12. Hey everyone! I received a confirmation e-mail yesterday from Jennifer saying my transcripts have been confirmed.
  13. Now with the 3 year program, does anyone know how many classes we will be taking on campus at CSUF? I don't recall seeing a curriculum list in the app.
