CT-CCNP 2015 applicants

Published

Hello,

I've seen similar threads for previous years applicants. It would be fun to get to know some of the other applicants and be able I share info and cheer each other on. I'll start,

i applied to NVCC and chose capital as my second choice school. I got an 84.7% on my TEAS V, an A in A&P1, and my nursing gpa is a 3.7(ish) I believe.

I am taking A&P2 this spring, and have to jam micro into the summer.. But I'm super excited!

Hi Bwork!

I heard exactly opposite from someone who works at Yale, he said dont go to BHSN, yale hires GCC students. I was attracted by summer accelerated option, which will save 6 months eventhough i only live 10 mins from Gateway CC. It will be a tough choice to make, end of the day i want to choose the quality program , i guess thats everyones goal.

@Ked880 thanks for your encouragement! it is needed.

I went to TRCC to hand in my paperwork and asked about transferring into a BSN program. Since I'm a spring start, I have a semester to kill and I don't want to be a lazy bones. She told me that they are working on transfer agreements with some 4 year schools, and that it will be discussed further on our orientation, which is May 21st.

The USJ website says they will take all graduates of CT's CCNP, but they're really expensive (1 year online program for BSN). From what I've read about CCSU and SCSU, they want to drag it out another 3-4 semesters, which would end up bringing the total near USJ costs. I look forward to finding out more and meeting my fellow TRCC cohort.

Nabbed the last summer micro spot, in hopes I get bumped to the fall. My big concern is that I've already taken 38 CC credits, I don't want to waste money on more classes that won't transfer. I'm thinking of taking micro at Eastern, but it's more expensive and it's 8hr/d, 4d/wk for 5wks. But I've got a month to think it over.

And if anyone wants to save some time/money and likes independent study, look into CLEP tests. They're about $100 each and TRCC has them for sociology and english 102. I think BHSN has one for lifespan or child development. Not all schools accept CLEP credit, so double check with your school and their equivalencies. I know SCSU treats them like credits from a 4-year school, so I'm going to try to get my eng102 done that way.

Hi guys. I'm at Gateway finishing my first year. It's the hardest thing I've ever done, but I love it. My clinical group is like a family. I was pulled from the waitlist, I was under ten last year. They had over 400 people apply this year. Don't give up. PM if I can be any help :)

I GOT IN TO NVCC!!! YAYYY!! happy dance! :roflmao:

I found out right after an exam, so I ran to a computer lab to check and I nearly pooped in suspense... lol

I was soo excited I could have tap danced through the rest of the day :p

5 people from my AP2 class got in, and two girls had TEAS V scores in the low-mid 60's, so i don't know if they got in by lottery? But everyone I've met that got in has been very friendly and I cant wait to start with all of you NV'ers! It should be a great group!

Of course I planned a vaca with the kids for may 20-27, and mandatory freshman orientation is on the 27th!! Ahh! Had to move my flights around a bit, but I still will be late to the meeting.

For anyone waitlisted, I'm sorry you're disappointed, it stinks... But, don't let anything stop you, definitely dont let this cause you to give up.. Maybe this is a chance to go directly to BSN instead!

Congratulations!

Congrats! me too! Cant wait to start! Who is your AP teacher? I have ****** (sp?). I hope to meet you soon. Congratulations again.

@coachremson I had a low 60s on my teas and I still got wait listed. your friends are lucky!

@chrisd890 your given a spot by your wait list number based off of accepted students who declined their seating. I understand you have to be top 10 to 20 on the wait list to even have a fair shot. Cycle before last I was #62 with a teas of 54. This time my teas was 64 so I doubt my wait list # will go up by much. What did you get on your teas? Hopefully you get a spot!

Ive heard from someone that some people on these forums can be pretty harsh on students that don't make it, so I just wanted to say to all of you that have posted kind words and encouragemental to all of us that didn't get in, a big THANK YOU. It really goes along way. Let's all keep hope alive and do our best and just keep trying!

Hi toonsis

This is my first post on this site, however, I've been following this thread and a few others. I'm currently going through the decision process of picking BHSN or GCC for nursing in the Fall. I don't know anyone that has gone to GCC, which is my first choice. I did try to PM but I can't since I joined this site today. Can you share with me any information about the schedule? How do you feel about the program? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

So has anyone gotten their wait list number yet? Does anyone know for sure the range of what number you have to be offered a seat from the waitlist?
