  1. A little small for me but thanks! Did you sit for the NCLEX yet? Are you working? Any good tips for first semester?
  2. professor ****** was the best teacher I had. However his tests are very hard. The good: 1. You will learn a ton of good information. 2. You will be better prepared for nursing 3. He understands what you need to know in nursing and tries to prepare you for it 4. He explains everything clearly and is easy to talk to. 5. If you get out alive you are ready for nursing! The Bad: 1. His tests are very hard! - if you do not fully understand concepts his questions will fool you. 2. if you have a 3.5 or lower you may take a hit on the GPA so be careful 3. Home work is tedious, he actually checks them to be sure you do it, and expects you to read and understand the assigned readings before class. (this is good and bad) 5. He is always late to class. but expects you to be on time. The skinny: If you are a good student and you know how to study and prepare for tests he is your guy. If you are average learner and need the best grade possible don't bother, your grade will suffer and you may not be able to get in the nursing program. (remember API is 25% of your Nursing GPA) - Good luck!
  3. Hi iannotti021, Thats a tough question, I would go with something that made you decide to become a nurse. But, in a way that talks about how along the way life made you prepared to become a nurse. Like, how something happened that you learned from. Or, how you volunteered at such-n-such and it made you realize that you wanted to help people. Maybe even, a horrible event that made you "grow up". My best suggestion is to write about something compelling on how you are prepared to take the next step and become someone greater than you are now. How your life journey brings you to apply for nursing. something like that. Good luck!
  4. Just added a FB page "NVCC Nursing Class of 2017". Please join us and ask others who are also NVCC students to join our group. Thanks and see you in the orientation/fall.
  5. YAY missymysterious, congratulations! KellyH_2014 your next kid! I have my orientation for NVCC on the 24th. I will let you know how that was for anyone interested.
  6. Soulseeker, This was my motivation last year dont think of this as a bad thing think of it as part of your journey. Next year you will be in a better position to be successful. Best of luck to you.
  7. Thats good you just had a physical. I had to change doctors for insurance and it took a long time to get to see him. If I had waited to make an appointment I would have been SOL. As far as drug test you simply click on "drug test" and open the attached file it will give you the instructions. I just went to the closest place to NVCC it is literally down the street from the school. you could walk there. It took may 20min to do. it's easy unless you have something to hide. LOL - it was free! comes with the background fee you pay for the service.
  8. Hi JBLove, This is all done online. Our package code is NM94. That should get you in. Then, just do what it tells you to do. One word of caution. MAKE SURE you get a physical set up ASAP! it takes a long time to get one and especially hard to get time just before school starts - don't wait on that. Not to mention the shots and if you need a series of shots it could take weeks to go thru the process. I hope that helps....
  9. My status never changed and I did not get in. Maybe the change in status is a good thing?!
  10. Wow 5 people! I have one person in my APII class other than me. Did you get any of the Background stuff done? I only have shots and physical left to do.
  11. My letter was sent in late may. They closed registration June 14th.
  12. Funny story to take your mind off the acceptance process for a second. I ordered my stethoscope last week. I got it on Thursday! in case you are wondering I got a Littmann Classic III. any way, I could not wait to start using it so I used it on my wife, kids, and even my cat! I dont recommend the cat though All I heard was her purring. Sounded like thunder LOL
  13. Not sure actually, but I do know last year (when I was on the waiting list) I had the #705 on it. I remember vividly thinking that if that is the order that they looked at my application it's no wonder I was wait listed. I still have that envelope today. I kept it for motivation to hand in my application in early! The envelope this year was #221 - I got in with that number.
  14. Did they put a number on the envelope?
