Hello,
I've seen similar threads for previous years applicants. It would be fun to get to know some of the other applicants and be able I share info and cheer each other on. I'll start,
i applied to NVCC and chose capital as my second choice school. I got an 84.7% on my TEAS V, an A in A&P1, and my nursing gpa is a 3.7(ish) I believe.
I am taking A&P2 this spring, and have to jam micro into the summer.. But I'm super excited!
That's so not true, that you only receive a diploma from bhsn! Where did you get that info from? Any program you go to, it says associate in science! The degree may come from the community college or w/e school you went to for your prereqs but you WILL RECEIVE a degree upon completing bhsn, not a diploma!
There were 264 students that applied to NCC this year, after rejections went out, the total went down to 175 and they only have 80 seats available well for Norwalk anyways! These are the #s for ncc don't know for community colleges overall, hope that helps.
Okay, I went thru this at every angle. You will receive a diploma if you have gone to any other school accept Housatonic for your prerequisites. If not, you must transfer all credits to Housatonic. However, you need to have at least 16 credits from Housatonic in order to get the degree. BHSN does NOT give you a degree, they give you a diploma. Only Housatonic, BHSN together can do that. That is the only reason I am going to NVCC. I can not get my degree because I have all my credit with NVCC. I hope that clears up the questions.
I have 16 credits from HCC therefore i will get Associated with HCC&BHSON. I plan to transfer to BSN school as soon as i am done, possibly finding job after passing NCLEX. The point is How is the quality of Teaching/School overall BHSON VS GCC?? will it make any easier to work @ YALE if you go to GCC or any other particular PROS N CONS?
Mike777 they are difficult schools to compare which makes them hard to pick between. A close friend of mine spent the past few months in Yale new haven hospital and she passed on advice from their nurses to attend BHSN over gateways program if given the option. I am sure both programs have their own pros & cons. For me Bridgeport it closer, offers an accelerant option, and isn't only a night program like GCC.
I GOT IN TO NVCC!!! YAYYY!! happy dance!
I found out right after an exam, so I ran to a computer lab to check and I nearly pooped in suspense... lol
I was soo excited I could have tap danced through the rest of the day
5 people from my AP2 class got in, and two girls had TEAS V scores in the low-mid 60's, so i don't know if they got in by lottery? But everyone I've met that got in has been very friendly and I cant wait to start with all of you NV'ers! It should be a great group!
Of course I planned a vaca with the kids for may 20-27, and mandatory freshman orientation is on the 27th!! Ahh! Had to move my flights around a bit, but I still will be late to the meeting.
For anyone waitlisted, I'm sorry you're disappointed, it stinks... But, don't let anything stop you, definitely dont let this cause you to give up.. Maybe this is a chance to go directly to BSN instead!
Congratulations!
