  1. It's not like CT is that big. If someone in central CT or western CT needs to commute, it's what... 1-2 hours. Not like people are commuting from northern to southern California. There's so many BSNs and ASNs working on their BSNs and satisfied ASNs in our tiny state. I realize that I'm probably going to need to move to get the job experience I want, and that's OK. Another BSN school would just mean more people trying to get the same number of jobs (or less the way HHC does things >.> ).
  2. ECSU does not offer a BSN. They have an allied health bachelors that will help you get into a 2nd bachelors accelerated nursing program, but no nursing at Eastern. TRCC has transfer agreements with SCSU, CCSU, and WCSU. They have agreements with many other schools, but the state schools tend to be much cheaper. If I can't find employment in CT, I can see moving to where I'm needed... and where I can get the most experience to move up the ladder. As I understand, in CT with just an ASN, it's harder to get into specialties.
  3. Ahem, lab partner, Sara told us we could do it technically, but we couldn't actually do it in the summer because the class was held simultaneously. In the fall, it shouldn't have been a problem, as the prereqs state just bio for both.
  4. My friend started at Goodwin but couldn't keep up with the cost, so she quit and still owes a bunch of money. I just feel its sketchy since I get a 30% tuition discount through work. That's a steep discount for 'quality' education. You can redo all your prereqs in 1 year at a CC and it will still be cheaper than Goodwin.
  5. I don't know where you're located, but at QVCC in Danielson, you can take A&P 1 and 2 at the same time. They both have just a bio prereq. It's definitely helpful to take them in order, but if you're a good student, you could tackle them both at the same time.
  6. One of my classmates from my CCNP prereqs is thinking about that route. But it will be a year and a half for LPN school (20k), then summer bridge, then 1 year of the CCNP (4k). If you took bio 1 this summer, then chem, english, A&P 1 in the fall (some schools make chem a prereq, QVCC does not), and A&P 2 in the spring, you would be able to apply for next year. I got into the CCNP, but at three rivers, they have 1/2 start fall and 1/2 start spring. So it'll be 2.5 years for my ASN then another 1.5 years for my bachelors. I thought about just going to Eastern for my bachelors in something else for 2 years, then applying in CT MA and RI for a 2nd bachelors in nursing (40-60k). Then again, there would be no guarantee I would get into these programs. One school in Boston has masters entry into nursing so you can go right to nurse practitioner if you have a bachelors in something else. Goodwin has a point system, and if you have a bachelors, it gives you more points. Maybe worth looking into? Good luck.
  7. I got a call from TRCC regarding my request to move to the fall start - nope. This just seems like it's taking forever.
  8. And if anyone wants to save some time/money and likes independent study, look into CLEP tests. They're about $100 each and TRCC has them for sociology and english 102. I think BHSN has one for lifespan or child development. Not all schools accept CLEP credit, so double check with your school and their equivalencies. I know SCSU treats them like credits from a 4-year school, so I'm going to try to get my eng102 done that way.
  9. I went to TRCC to hand in my paperwork and asked about transferring into a BSN program. Since I'm a spring start, I have a semester to kill and I don't want to be a lazy bones. She told me that they are working on transfer agreements with some 4 year schools, and that it will be discussed further on our orientation, which is May 21st. The USJ website says they will take all graduates of CT's CCNP, but they're really expensive (1 year online program for BSN). From what I've read about CCSU and SCSU, they want to drag it out another 3-4 semesters, which would end up bringing the total near USJ costs. I look forward to finding out more and meeting my fellow TRCC cohort. Nabbed the last summer micro spot, in hopes I get bumped to the fall. My big concern is that I've already taken 38 CC credits, I don't want to waste money on more classes that won't transfer. I'm thinking of taking micro at Eastern, but it's more expensive and it's 8hr/d, 4d/wk for 5wks. But I've got a month to think it over.
  10. I've been lurking for months. My stats are B+/3.4/88 w/everything but micro and eng 102 done. I got into TRCC-spring. Hopefully I can get bumped up to the fall. Good luck to everyone else!
