Hello! I wanted to create this for those applying to Cal State San Marcos ABSN Spring 2022 Cohort.

any other tips and advice for those starting in Spring 2022?? Thank you! ?
I believe my email showed up the following day and it was in my spam folder. Note the email goes to the one you used when applying not to a CSUSM.edu email as you have to set that up upon accepting the offer.
If you don't get the email you can go to your communication tab in the student center of mycsusm and you should see a copy of it there.
You do get 2 weeks to accept the offer and pay the $150, which is a lot cheaper than many schools ask for. Note that it takes the school a few days after you pay the deposit etc. to get the email with the next steps. That email will explain how to do the background check, health check, all the vaccine stuff etc. It's actually a bit of a confusing process to be honest.
Our cohort set up a Slack group initially. It allows us to create separate channels for different topics (such as carpool, housing, etc.) in addition to the main page. It also allows for people to send DMs. We do have a FB page that was just set up, but many of us aren't on there.
They take FOREVER to tell you what textbooks you need, so just accept that now. All the supplies (scrubs, stethoscope, shoes, etc.) are expensive so maybe with Xmas coming you can put those things on your wish list.
Good luck and congrats all!

Do you know if they do another round of acceptances every two weeks (since that's how long each person has to accept/decline), or do they accept new people as people decline (even if it's earlier than 2 weeks)?

Hi! Thank you so much for this info.
do you know anything about the financial aid process? I did apply for financial aid as soon as I applied to the program, but wondering when that should be updated to our portal, or if I should call someone about it. Thank you!

I was accepted in the first round for Fall, but my understanding is that as spots free up they go to the next name on the list. Many other schools wait and notify the next round in a batch after the window closes. I recall many people getting accepted several weeks after I did. Our cohort found out really late compared to other schools so many had already accepted other offers, this led to a lot of open seats initially.

You don't need to call anyone. If you completed your FAFSA and submitted everything then after you accept your offer you'll eventually see what you've been award in the Financial area of mycsusm.
After you accept your offer you'll get an email from the school that goes over all the next steps, what information you need etc. The Financial Aid office will get in touch, etc. I think that email goes out at the close of the 2 week window to accept.

Thanks, good information. I sent my deposit in today. I look forward to meeting everyone in January.
Hi everyone!
I also got accepted for Spring'22 with 40 points. I applied to Fall w/o having all prereqs done so it automatically rolled over to Spring. I finished my last prereq 9/12 and submitted my transcript later that week. So, I 'missed' the Spring application deadline by an over a month, but because I was already in the system, I don't think it mattered.
Anyways, I complied this for Fall 2021, so I will do it here also. It can help someone searching for more anecdotal info on admission points. These are the points that got applicant in from this forum:
-37 (2), 39 (1), 40 (4), 41 (1), 44(2), 45 (1)
Mean: 40.6
Range: 37-45
Percentage of the total 65 students admitted to cohort: 16.92%. I think this is a good indicator on how the rest of the admission points look.
I can update this when needed! And congrats to everyone!
Almost forgot, the most important thing.
You do not register for classes. The school of nursing will register you for whatever courses you are required to take. For the first term it's likely to be 2-3 classes depending on whether you took a nutrition course already.
So don't freak out when you get an email about registering for classes, the university sends those out automatically to every student. Our nursing courses are set aside for us.
Oh and be prepared starting in semseter 2 to say goodbye to your Friday's until you are done with the program. That's lecture lab day.
