CSUSM ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Anyone planning on applying to CSUSM's ABSN for Summer of 2021? I know it's early, but their priority deadline is Septmber 30th, 2020. I was hoping we could consolidate questions/info on this thread as we go along.

I have one more prereq to go (anatomy this Summer) before my app is complete. Where is everyone else at in the process?

Hi Deval, do you know how many days a week you will have clinicals? I applied to Temecula because Of the location, and I'm trying to guess how many days I might have to commute to San Diego for clinicals.

Anyone is welcome to chime in if they have an idea,  I'd really appreciate it ☺

Thanks!

Hey! Currently I have one clinical day this semester. We are going every other week and mine is actually in Riverside county, so there is a possibility to not have to go SD. That isn’t guaranteed though! I live in Temecula and commute to San Marcos once every other week for lab and it isn’t too bad either.

Thank you so much for replying! There are no labs in Temecula campus?  And what semester are you in? Are you loving the program?!  I guess I should've asked this before instead of going back and forth LOL

I’m in a cohort out of San Marcos. But the last cohort that was supposed to be at Temecula was technically skipped due to Covid pushing most cohorts back a semester. I’m in my second semester! It’s been challenging being primarily online but still learning a ton.

Oh okay,  I understand now.  I hate Covid,  but at least CSUSM is still having clinicals and admitting students. Thanks for replying even though I know you're busy nursing student! Congrats on making it to second semester!

Anyone know an estimate on how long it might take to get acceptance letters?

Based on a few other threads here hopefully within the next week or so (if Covid hasn’t affected it and they didn’t get a bunch of applications on the deadline itself). I’ve been checking every day and still nothing on my end ?

I've been checking everyday too LOL and hopefully we hear some good news soon!

I'm still debating between the MSN program @ APU and the ABSN program at CSUSM.

I hear you, it was between this and an ADN for me (because the cost being much less and then bridging was the main factor for that). I just want to know already though! Like let me plan my life LOL

I'm indecisive between APU, CSUSM and an ADN. How do you all plan on choosing of you get into both?  Or all 3 LOL

For me I was like I’ll have to do the BSN anyways and it’s faster to just do it through CSU. If I don’t get in then I’ll go back and apply for an ADN and take BSN courses while I’m in school to keep the cost lower but still get the BSN on time. For me time is the biggest motivator followed by cost.

That's a good perspective. I agree that time is also a huge factor cost a close second. CSUSM 24 months BSN is pretty good deal. I wish they would let us do those non nursing classes ahead of time.
