CSUSM ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Anyone planning on applying to CSUSM's ABSN for Summer of 2021? I know it's early, but their priority deadline is Septmber 30th, 2020. I was hoping we could consolidate questions/info on this thread as we go along.

I have one more prereq to go (anatomy this Summer) before my app is complete. Where is everyone else at in the process?

The wait is killing me LOL.

Do you mind sharing when your transcripts got there? Also, congratulations! 40 is very competitive

It says received on 9/3! I sent it way before I submitted the application.

Not sure if already stated,  but has anyone gotten any of the non nursing required classes approved?  (Philosophy,  Nutrition, Anthro) I was told they allow transfers of these courses, I'm thinking about occupying my time this way,  if I can find a transferable course. ?

Following because if that's the case I want to take at least one of them in the Spring or something if I can. The only thing is finding a school that offers them to take them ahead of time?

I am pretty sure it’s actually built in as the first semester. And if people have already taken them they just start once the rest of the cohort has completed them.

Someone mentioned they took nutrition through portage ($$) and it transferred. And other students stated their nutrition course transferred from other San Diego area CCs...but that's all I can find.  I'd love to be able to take the other courses now to save some stress and money, but I have no idea where to find them LOL

Hi guys! This isn't about Summer 21 but I'm just starting my ABSN journey ? I have 3 pre-reqs to take (Micro, chem, critical thinking). I will be done with them in May, and will take the TEAS right after.

Which start date should I apply for? Spring 22? Or should I apply for Fall 21 with 3 outstanding pre-reqs just to get my app in, and most likely be pushed back to Spring

ALSO- if anyone has any recs on Critical Thinking classes at nearby community colleges (Socal/ SD area) please let me know!

For the start date, you'll need to have you prereqs done by the time the deadline hits and the application is only good for a year. So, I would wait to apply until you're on your last prereq. Also, I don't know if this helps, but I took the TEAS before taking AP 1&2 and Micro and did fine, so if you've done most of your sciences, you could probably take it after you do chem.

For the critical thinking course, go to the assist website and see what transfers as a critical thinking course from the community colleges you're looking to take the class at. For me, it was a 200 level english course (done back at purdue, and it transferred for me).

I am soooo antsy. I can’t wait to know either way.
