CSUSM ABSN Summer 2020

Hi all,

Looking to apply this month for Summer 2020! Anyone else on the same boat? I am currently taking my last class so I expect to update my transcript when grades are posted mid-Decemeber. Anyone from previous cohorts had an issue with this?

I'm a little anxious about my points- I'm in the low 30s but hopefully it will be less competitive in Summer/fall!

I haven’t received any email yet, just assumed that first semester for ABSN 37 would be held online. I truly don’t understand the reason for campus changes. They have already changed Fall 2020 Temecula cohort to San Marcos cohort and now Summer... It’s getting quite confusing.

No, there has not been any official confirmation one way or the other, just the "tentative" proposal posted. As far as I know no one has responded to any of our emails for guidance, likely because they're waiting to confirm the plan themselves. ? It's stressful, but that's how we live these days!

I applied for Fall and we received an email that Fall is in San Marcos...that they had switched it from Temecula.

The Summer 37 ABSN cohort has been pushed to Fall and will be held at the San Marcos Location. The next new cohort (which included Fall applicants will now be Spring 2021).

This breaks my heart because I declined acceptence to the Summer cohort to attend in Fall at San Marcos.

Ugh I am so sorry. Have you reached out to your counselor? Maybe there will be students who withdraw their applications and there will be room for you.

WOW! that’s frustrating to hear because I applied for Summer and I assume I did not get In and was counting on admission for fall hopefully. I wanna her started and Spring is so far away.

Does anyone know the reasoning behind moving our cohort to San Marcos?

I’m positive it’s because every cohort before us is not finishing on time. My friend goes to a CC in Long Beach, and just started the RN program this semester. Her program is currently “on hold” and expected to resume in June. Normally they do not have class over the Summer, but it’s looking like they might now. I’m assuming every other nursing program is facing this issue because they have stopped clinicals because of Covid. They can’t keep pushing students to the next semester if they do not complete their clinicals.

They probably moved us to San Marcos because of the way the semester was pushed. So it’s not impacted or affects their future scheduling.

Well, I think for those of you who declined Summer, maybe there's a still a possibility you can be in for Fall. If I were you I would ask, maybe some people will drop because they don't want to go to San Marcos or wait until Fall....I'm pretty sad, don't want to wait until Spring 2021. Maybe some spots will open up. Just hoping...

Did anybody receive the email regarding Complio requirements?

The email mentions that nursing students need to get their Complio ASAP. Does anybody know if that applies to ABSN cohort 37? I’m not sure what to think since we start in Fall.

No it doesn’t. It only applies to those who have clinicals over Summer. 37 just needs to turn everything at the regular due date. They sent out a follow up message
