CSUN 2016 ABSN

Published

Hi Everyone! I was searching around and couldn't seem to find a thread for the spring and fall 2016 ABSN program at CSUN. Hopefully we can use this thread to talk to and support each other as we go on this crazy journey :D

Hi All, I just came across the following information in the CSUN university catalog:

The Accelerated B.S.N. Option is on hiatus. Admission has been suspended as of Fall 2017. The program is not accepting applications at this time.

Nursing, B.S.N. - Accelerated

Does anyone have any information about why the program is on hiatus starting Fall 2017?

Also, does anyone know if ABSN students are required to compete the Upper Division Writing Requirement? English is my second language and I wonder how hard is it to pass the exam. The BSN catalog states that this is required but CSUN 2015-16 has the following information:

Second Bachelor's students in the Nursing major do not need to complete the Upper Division writing proficiency requirement.

Second Bachelor’s Degree Requirements

Thanks so much for any information you can share![/quote

Hello Kosiky, i came across the fall 2017 being on hiatus and I'm not sure why...for the writing test I think that you do not need to take it,since you already have a Bachelor degree, but you can always double check with the nursing department or admission just to make sure,as for the writing test it is not hard, but can be confusing, since you only get a partial of an article to read, then write about in a matter of 2 hours I believe.I took it at csun in 2013, it was not that bad...but some people I know took it twice and others more than twice.I would say that you need to be prepare if you have to take it,by having a very good intro,a clear body, and a strong conclusion,as the paper is read by 3 people....so any points count.

I got mine today. Not as exciting as being accepted to the program, but I guess acceptance to the University is half the battle right? Maybe a quarter of the battle?

Hello Jensfro, being accepted into the school is a first battle that you won...now you have only one to wait for...that is a big step on my book

I also received the letter from the university, but I still have not received any confirmation email from the nursing department saying my application is complete:( this is a bad sign:(

Hello 1508_j, i don't think it is a bad sign,as they may reply in the order the application was received...no worries

Thanks so much for the info labellevie!

I also received the admission to the university (not the nursing program). I plan on visiting the campus and hope to talk to the current students before or after their classes. Does anyone know what is the schedule of the current students like?

Hi labellevie,

Thanks for directing me to RNtobe2016. How does the PM message work?

Hi Kosiky if I'm not mistaken, you have to post for at least 15 times to be able to do so....but if you write on this ,she will respond

I see, I'm almost there. Thank you labellevie!
