Hi Everyone! I was searching around and couldn't seem to find a thread for the spring and fall 2016 ABSN program at CSUN. Hopefully we can use this thread to talk to and support each other as we go on this crazy journey
I'm on the alternate list too and haven't heard anything yet. When I went to the office last week they told me we'll hear back from them anywhere from now to August depending if we get a spot in the fall or summer cohort. But if I hear back from admissions I'll be sure to notify everyone here. I hope you'll do the same ( everyone on the alternate list)
Hi was just reading this thread . Would someone inform me exactly what the CSUN program is?
It seems interesting but do you need to have a Bachelor degree to apply?
I already did prerequisites at Pierce, but retook Microbiology, Physio, & mostly C. I'm currently a CNA WITH 4years of experience. My main goal is to become RN though with these grades im not sure if I'll make it to a RN program.
I'm not sure if I should do LVN first and then RN? any advice
or any other healthcare career similar
Im taking my last class to obtain my Associate degree in science, but not sure what to do with it. I really need career advice.
To answer your first question, the CSUN ABSN requires a BA or BS. It also sounds like 2016 is the last ABSN cohort (closing down the program). As a CNA and Pierce student you have a few options worth investigating.
Does your employer offer tuition assistance? If you are working in a hospital as a CNA you might want to see what tuition assistance programs they have. That would be a good signifier of whether to take the LVN or RN route.
Lastly, another avenue to look at is the ADN program at Pierce. CSUN and Pierce have a bridge program. After completing an ADN at Pierce you take an additional semester or two at CSUN to complete a BSN.
Good luck.

Hello Everyone!
I am new to the thread but I, too, have been accepted into the Summer cohort! I do not live in the area but will be moving that way soon and may be looking for a roommate. For those of you who are not commuting, what is your plan for living? Does anyone know of some good areas to rent by the university? Thanks for the feedback!
