CSULB Fall 2015 Applicants-Basic BSN

Published

I am extremely surprised there isn't a thread that exists for students applying to CSU LB for Fall 2015!!

Here are my stats, but enlighten me on one part, what does the general gpa consist of? I actually went to CSULB and met Monalisa, but she said the nursing program only looks at eight classes... Maybe I should call to reassure how they calculate the cummulative GPA, but my other scores are set.

Science GPA: 4.0: 4

TEAS Math: 100 : 2

TEAS Overall: (90.7x2)100:1.814

GE GPA: TBA

So far so good, but being that a 3.0 is the cut off gpa for general and science for the program I am giving myself a 3.0/2= 1.5 as a score and my points would be a 9.314 as a default. Hopefully it will be higher.

You guys remind me of our group from Spring of 2015! LOL. All of your scores look really good. The cutoff for Spring session was a 9.32 I believe. Good luck to you guys!! I'm in first semester right now and it's an extremely gratifying experience!

First, Congratulations on being admitted to the nursing program! Could you share with us what to expect for the interviews, if we make it that far? Should we wear formal attire or should we review questions etc.?

Thanks in advance!

Hey! Thanks for the luck! What score did you go in with?! And how do you like the program so far?

Hello guys,

I might be a bit off topic but I had a question since this was the only recent CSULB thread I can find. Anyways, I'm interested in their RN-BSN program in a year and had a question regarding their admissions process.

Under their information flyer it says under the requirements that:

Admission Requirements for the School of Nursing:

ï‚· Graduation from an accredited Associate Degree Program in Nursing (ADN). If you have graduated from a RN Diploma

program, you must obtain a community college evaluation of their nursing school transcripts for junior college credit

before applying to the nursing program.

 Grade of C” or better in all courses.

When they say Grade "C" or better in all courses? Do they mean C or better in your whole college career or just your Associates in Nursing courses because I have a bachelors from my previous course work and needless to say I didn't do quite well due to personal reasons.

The interviews are just communication exercises. Just go in, speak up, follow directions, and show that you have a brain and personality, and that you know how to communicate well with others and you'll be fine.

If/when you guys get letters, they will let you know all the details, and no studying isn't necessary!

I actually don't remember my score, got rid of my calculations awhile ago lol. But the program is so much fun! It's challenging, but rewarding nonetheless. Then again, I'm only in week 3 lol.

Last year's cut off was 9.63 overall score. If you have something above that, that's perfect. Don't give up hope if you're below, you may be an alternate and there is a good chance you'll be in. Good luck!

wait- 9.63 cutoff... is that before or after the communication exercise??

That is before the communication exercise. They add 2 points to your score after.

Holy crap... with a 9.62 I thought I was a shoe-in for the interview!

As I said before, I know some people who had scores lower then the cutoff who are currently enrolled. So don't worry about it

Where did you get that information? According to their website last fall the stats were:

Rating Average – 9.39 (range 9.92– 9.35)
