CSULA Fall 2021

Published

Hi all!
I just wanted to create this forum for students who are applying to CSULA Fall 2021 for the BSN Nursing track in case we had questions for each other, wanted to share thoughts, stats and to support each other through this journey.

I was wondering if anyone has applied and knew if CSULA requires verification for volunteer hours in their NursingCAS application portion? Also, will they accept any amount of volunteer hours under 50? I know you can add a document. Thank you!

Hi! Does anyone know if the school takes an average of the grades if you've taken two separate Chemistry courses (lect + lab) or do you need at least a B- in both lect & lab?

At CSULA when you take chem, your lab and lec sections are combined for your final grade. Also I believe you need an overall B not a B- but I could be wrong.

Okay yeah thank you for replying! I was wondering is it easy to get your classes for pre nursing students before applying to the BSN program? Or do pre nursing students have to fight for the classes along with all the other majors?

Definitely go to the first orientation date!! If you don't, a lot of classes will be filled up very quickly. And during the Fall semester, consider becoming a notetaker for OSD so that you get priority registration for Spring 2022 semester and you won't have to worry about classes being filled up! You literally get to choose your classes the first week that registration opens, unlike everyone else who may have a registration date that's like waaay later. If you don't know what a notetaker does, search up "OSD notetaker signup calstate la" on Google and it'll be the first link that pops up. And sign up like a week before classes start in Fall. Another advice: always research the professors beforehand so that once your registration day comes, you already know which profs you want. Always look them up on rate my professor.

has anyone created a fb group or discord for our cohort yet? im new to the LA area and would love to make new friends!

I don't think we did. I'd love to join if anyone makes one!

Wow! Thanks so much for the advice about being an OSD note taker!! I’ll definitely try that. The earliest and best time I can sign up for that would be a week before class starts in the fall? No time earlier? How does being an OSD notetaker give you priority for registration for classes? And im just curious, is everyone here applying to the BSN nursing program? Or are you all pre-nursing students.

You won’t get priority registration this semester but if you sign up when school starts and work as a note taker this fall you’ll get it for the Spring semester. You can also register with the Office for Students with Disabilities if you have anxiety, a learning disability etc. with a note from a counselor/therapist to also get priority registration. In being a note taker and providing notes for students who need it, you get priority registration for your service and a stipend of about $70 but they might be increasing that! This forum is mostly students who have just applied into the nursing program this year, the decision emails just got sent out recently! There will probably be a new group up for you when you’re applying into the program ?

I created this FB group for our cohort. https://www.facebook.com/groups/460009468568441/

Oh okay sounds good! Do you know how many people were admitted into the pre nursing program? Not the 3yr BSN program because I know they accept 70 out of 1400 into the Nursing program but I’m not so sure how many people are accepted into the pre-nursing one.

Wait where did you see there were 1400 applicants?

In my year I was told there was about 200 pre nursing students I believe, but some change majors pretty quickly.

I read on the website in a PDF that was intended for nursing students to read and I just recently attended preview week on zoom at CSULA and they mentioned it there that it was out of 1400 @angel5678
