Hello. I wanted to create this forum for people who are applying to Cal State Los Angeles for Fall 2020. This is a place where we can discuss and compare statistics between us, as well as ask questions regarding the program. Thank you and good luck to you all!

Some of my classmates had to campus about the same number of times as I did, and several had their health assessment lab the same day as lectures and only came to campus 1-2 times a week.
I'm not too sure because I'm not in the Honors program, but I have heard that every student has to write a thesis in their last year. Some benefits for it are that you can put it in your resume, you get some medallion during graduation, and you get priority registration -- meaning you can register for classes before everyone else. But if you're in the nursing program, you don't need to worry about "saving" a spot; the only main concern is for upper division classes, co-requisites, etc.
thanks so much for the info!

Yes, they do have scholarship opportunities! I forgot to mention that I had friends who were in the program and they got housing waived (there's a designated building for Honors students only) but don't think everyone gets it. Sorry I couldn't be as helpful as I want to be in regards to the Honors program ?

I ask because somebody on a different forum (on facebook) explained her schedule to me and she mentioned she had to do 2-3 a week in a couple of semesters which sounds pretty intense. Not sure how true that is though, so I wanted to ask u...
Tuition for the Honors program or...? If you're referring to the Honors program, I think it's the same as if someone weren't in the program. If you're referring to general tuition and nursing school costs (totally separate payments), feel free to message me on IG and I'll go in detail. It's typically 1 clinical per week for CSULA. As you progress, like doing peds and OB in your 3rd semester, half of your cohort does peds and the other OB, then you switch midway in the semester, but you're still doing 1 clinical a week. 4th semester: I think you do 2 clinicals a week for ICU and psych? I could be wrong but one of my upperclassmen friends told me that.

Luckily, I'm no longer in that predicament. Which school has your genuine interest? What I mean is, which of the two makes you "giddy" when you think about it? Sometimes we have to revert to the simple things and not just the stats.

This is a great question. My gut tells me CSULA. It seems relatively more relaxed (still hard though), so I could work a little bit at at least. Also it’s only 15 miles away from me, so shorter commute. The idea of having SOME social life is appealing to me. Seems depressing to be in school full speed for 2 whole years.
yet, the idea of being done in 2 years sounds amazing! I would be 28 almost turning 29 (my bday is June) by the time I would finish trimester LB. For LA, I would almost be 30 years old. Which I know is totally not bad at all! But IDK the idea of still being in my “20’s” when I finish sounds cool. Lmao.
I’m waiting to hear back from ---------------- about the cost of CSULA so I can compare prices between CSULB. It’s hard to find an exact number on both tho ???? I see different numbers on different sites. If one is drastically more money than that would also help make my decision... but I would imagine they wouldn’t be too much different.

This is what I found from Google: LA- $26139 before aid and LB- $ 24738 before aid. Did you find similar #s?

For LA this is what I found. 3,316 x 6 = 19,896$... which seems very reasonable. But then I see 24,588$ and then I see 32,000$, which are completely different numbers. I’m contacted --------------------- on Instagram and she’s gonna break it down for me thank god LOL.
@CocoaQueen for Long Beach, someone in the other forum said 3,500$ per semester which is super reasonable. Only 5 semesters so it would cost like 17,000$ if what he/she said was correct. I also found this on the website which basically validates what they said. If these numbers are right then CSULB seems definitely cheaper. I am applying for a scholarship and the honors program for LA tho since I missed the deadlines for LB. hopefully I would qualify for something. I checked my portal for LA though, and it says under aid “0$” ??, I don’t really understand how to read my financial aid packages though. I wonder if I would get some kind of waiver for tuition though. I currently don’t get any aid from my CC but I do have my classes waived for now.

Silly question, but have you called the school and asked them? They should be more accurate with #s vs anything else. Also, it seems like LB is cheaper in all regards. I'm sure you'll get more accurate answers soon, but since completion time and tuition are defining factors for you, LB seems like the way to go.
You're more than likely going to get into LB, so I guess this all comes down to whether you get picked for the semester or trimester program.
Even if you are selected for the semester program, you'll still be with the cheaper school.

Yeah I will probably contact the schools. Thankfully -------------- broke it down for me on ig message. It looks with all of the fees, it is roughly 30,000$ after everything. If you just factor in tuition it is 20,000$... but I forgot to include the cost of books, fees, equipment, etc. I’m curious about Long Beach’s total cost. The tuition for both schools are exactly the same for the most part. Since Long Beach is 1 semester less I would imagine that however you spin it, it is a little cheaper. But if we are only talking 4-5,000$... it isn’t too much of a difference.
