Hello. I wanted to create this forum for people who are applying to Cal State Los Angeles for Fall 2020. This is a place where we can discuss and compare statistics between us, as well as ask questions regarding the program. Thank you and good luck to you all!

Hi Jenny! Can you provide any insight? Is it worth applying for? How does it work for Nursing majors? @jennittoo

I'm not from the LA area, I'm from the bay and not sure what you guys know about CSULA and the campus life there. I also have no idea what the housing looks like there. Any info you all have would be greatly appreciated to help make my decisions easier ?

Hello! I currently go to CSULA and from the local area! CSULA is mainly a commuter school so theres a lot of hustle and bustle around here. People are extremely kind and super easy to make friends! It is a smaller campus so everything is pretty much within reach. There is always someone available to help you out whenever, so don't be shy and ask around! Don't forget to take advantage of the resources provided. Parking has gotten a lot easier ever since we got a new parking garage. I find parking every time, no matter what time it is. I'm not too sure about housing, but from what my friends told me, its really chill! I believe its apartment style. The professors at CSULA truly care about you. I was able to ask for help in class or their office hours. I felt really intimidated when I first attended CSULA, but I managed to connect with so many people and grew close to so many! Hope this gives you some insight about the campus!

Is it weird that I’m totally stoked about the parking? Lmao. I haven’t visited the campus yet, but when I went to Long Beach for the communications exercise I was completely overwhelmed by the parking situation. Having to drive 35-40 mins and then having to search high and low for parking seems stressful to deal with, so knowing CSULA’s parking situation is better helps me make my decision. Since it is closer to me AND has easier parking.

@theealexmartin I applied. It was kind of a hassle getting two letters of rec and filling out the entire thing application... As well as mailing transcripts right now since the corona virus, everything is closed down. But I got it done for the heck of it to see what happens. I’m only doing it to possibly get a scholarship, I could care less about the title.

It truly has been a blessing for parking! I used to have to spend at least 45 minutes to find parking LOL. I would recommend you to come by the campus and drive around to get used to where all the lots are! Keep in mind, only some lots are permitted for students.

But if I get stuck in semester... then I may get assigned a clinical super far away and I would only be done 5 months sooner than CSULA (Dec 2022 vs May 2023 doesn’t seem like a huge difference right?). Has anyone considered paying the deposits for both schools and waiting it out until the orientation at LB, which is June 19th... because that is when we would learn more about the program, clinicals, and that would be the day we would find out if we are in semester and trimester. I kind of want to know this info before deciding!! But I know it would be wrong to take up someone else’s spot on a waitlist just to be selfish LOL. I would decline an offer basically right after Long Beach’s orientation. Does anyone know if this is allowed, or would I get in trouble for this somehow? I’m aware I would not get my money back from the college I decline.
I don't think you'd get in trouble for holding your spot. I think you should do that just in case you don't get a spot in the trimester program!

I called and asked if I can change my mind after paying the 100 deposit to secure my spot. they said yes but that the 100 wouldn't be refundable. They cant find out as the cal states don't have an integrated system between them all. If you're worried I would just pay the deposit. I did because times are crazy and come hell or high water I'm getting into a program.

Isn't our spot safe up until the accept/decline date they gave us? I'm worried now. I've been waiting on another school's decision before I accept LA's offer, but I also don't wanna shoot myself in the foot, and somehow be SOL because I waited too long.

yeah supposedly. I didn't want to take any chance so I paid the 100s.
