CSULA FALL 2020

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello. I wanted to create this forum for people who are applying to Cal State Los Angeles for Fall 2020. This is a place where we can discuss and compare statistics between us, as well as ask questions regarding the program. Thank you and good luck to you all!

Yep, it's a 3 year program as well. Long beach does have the benefit that it's a shorter program, but man, driving basically 2hrs one way (without traffic) would get to me, and possibly cost me a lot more in the end. Thank you! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for CI, but not holding my breath ?

Yeah I totally understand that Long Beach would be ridiculous for you LOL. Well at least you’re in LA which is a little closer. Fingers crossed you get into CI!!

I got the letter!! It’s official! I’m admitted, yay! What an emotional roller coaster the past couple of days have been... who is going to accept the offer? I’m still waiting on Long Beach but if I’m denied there I will definitely be going to LA. Just glad I’m going to nursing school no matter what ?

Congratulations!! I'm glad they caught their mistake and offered you admission. I'm also waiting for Long Beach.. these are going to be some loooonng weeks . I don't really know how I feel about the interview. I felt good right after, but for some reason I'm starting to feel less confident LOL

Same! I was very nervous and said "um" a lot ?. Also, I'm not sure if my written exercise was done very well. I heard they already kind of know who they are going to accept before they even do the exercise, so hopefully I didn't blow it... LOL

haha I participated a lot as well. OMG, that's also what has me worried, the written exercise, I think I misspelled two words LOL yeah, hopefully we passed it!!

Is there anyone in the same boat as me?
I live closer to CSULA and I like the idea of having a less stressful schedule (since it’s less credits per semester), and having clinicals at hospitals closer to me... but I also like the idea that CSULB’s program is shorter and can be done in 2-2.5 years instead of 3 like CSULA. Wondering if all the driving and having so many credits per semester would burn me out... what are your opinions?? CSULA or CSULB?

Hi, are you doing the semester or trimester program at CSULB? Nursing school in general can be stressful due to the workload and even more so if you're working. Personally, I would choose CSULA for the distance from home to school and clinicals (depending on your placement), as well as saving up on gas, time to do homework, and napping (and probably housing situation too)! I'd also take into consideration the different clinical sites each campus has & their class schedules (if known or just a general trend from previous years) to solve your dilemma. If you think you can handle a much faster pace, I would go for CSULB. Some of my classmates live as far as OC and make the effort to come to CSULA and wake up at 3 or 4 AM for clinicals. Lmk if you have any other questions/concerns you would like to address!

I haven’t been accepted in CSULB yet... but I had my interview on Wednesday so I’m waiting to hear back. I don’t think you can choose trimester or semester until you accept the offer, which is kind of annoying. If I go to CSULB, I would want to do the trimester program because it is faster. Kinda sucks I can’t choose before accepting the offer LOL. Otherwise if I am going to have summers off, I would rather just do CSULA because it is closer and slower paced. Clinicals at CSULA are much closer to me than CSULB, I already looked into it. Ugh such a hard decision.

I'm also in the same dilemma as ninja. I was accepted to CSULA SON Fall 2020 and I AM PUMPED ABOUT IT. But I'm interested in the shorter program offered at CSULB. I did the interview on Wednesday as well and am waiting to hear back, I thought I nailed it (does anyone have an idea of when those letters are supposed to be sent?).

Does anyone know what the cost difference is or how CSULA program differs from CSULB?

Don't know the cost breakdown for CSULB but I do have it for CSULA! I don't think I'm allowed to post it on here so if anyone is interested in seeing that, please message me on IG or FB!

So the cost of CSULB is a little cheaper because it’s is 3,417$ per semester and it is only 5 semesters. This totals to about 17,000$ give or take. CSULA is 3,316$ per semester and it is 6 semesters which totals to about 20,000$ give or take. I would be spending more money on gas if I went to Long Beach... and 3,000$ isn’t big enough of a difference for me to consider the price. They are both relatively the same tuition. Do you live closer to LA or LB?

I live closer to LA.

Are there any note worthy differences between the two programs (besides the time frame)?

My fellow cohorts add me on IG Lazytitties.

Also I hope all of you are staying the *** home for the next two week and not touching anyone or licking doorknobs.

I added u on ig. And besides the time frame and the distance, Lb seems way faster of a pace (hence why you finish sooner). LA seems to be a program which will allow you to have a social life and a job which is appealing. Both are amazing programs!
