CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

Hey guys! Is there a limit to the amount of times we are allowed to take the TEAS test?

Do we need to manually input every single class we took in the nursingcas.org?

I'm a bit confused too. Did you put in all of your subjects or just the prerequisites?

Also, I have a class that's 0.3 units and with a Pass/Fail grade. How do I input this? NursingCAS won't let me type in P or Pass

If I plan on taking the philosophy 160 during the spring, do u think I will still be able to apply for Fall'16 ??

I think you have to have the critical thinking component completed before Spring. The only pre-reqs you can have in progress during spring are Microbiology and Statistics. If you want to double check, contact Monica Ling. Her info is on the CSULA school of nursing website.

Hey everyone. I would like to apply for Fall 2016 but I still need to take Physiology and Oral Communication, which I am taking next semester. Do you know if I can still apply while having those classes in progress? CSULA's website just updated for Summer 2016.. I don't think I can apply for that one. ? Help!

I think the only pre-reqs you are allowed to have in progress during spring are statistics and microbiology. Physiology has to be completed by the application due date (January 11, 2015). I'm pretty sure speech has to be completed before then as well. If you want to double check, contact Monica Ling at the CSULA school of nursing. You can find her info on the website.

Okay I'm a half hour ahead and I'm SO LOST on this nursingca website thing for the application.

I submitted my official transcripts to the CSULA office of admission, do I need to send them again to the nursing department?

Also, what's with this I'm seeing on the nursingca.org Transcript Matching Form

NursingCAS - Central Application Service

Instructions to the Registrar

Please attach this form directly to the official transcript for the above applicant and forward the official transcript (see requirements below) in a sealed envelope directly to:

NursingCAS Transcript Processing Center P.O. Box 9201

Watertown, MA 02471

The transcript must meet the requirements below to be considered official by NursingCAS

  • A Registrar's seal and/or legible signature included on the transcript.
  • Must be mailed directly to NursingCAS from the Registrar's Office.
  • Cannot be marked Issued to Student or Student Copy.
  • Must reflect all relevant, correct information for the student

Am I supposed to send another set of transcripts to that address or the CSULA nursing department?
And on the "Transcript Entry", Am I supposed to manually put all the pre rew classes I took there?

Because if I need to send another sent of transcripts I'm gonna slam my head on my desk because I just spent 61 bucks >.>

I got an AA degree in Health Science, but I put minor in NURSING,

I CAN'T EDIT THIS. I'm scared. :grumpy:

I've been waiting and I finished all pre req and TEAS. I'm just waiting to finish my application to get it over with.

I have over 200+ hours of clinical direct patient care. I am a volunteer at a hospital and work as a MA for a retirement home. I take vitals 2x a month but also clerical work and on call. That counts right?

The transcripts need to be sent directly to the nursingcas address from the registrar. The paper they provide with your name and the barcode needs to be included in the sealed envelope with the official transcripts. So, if you haven't sent transcripts to nursingcas, you need to do so. Also I believe you need to send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to CSULA school of nursing, so they can mail you the acceptance letter :D Your volunteer/work experience sounds great.

You just need to put in the specific pre-reqs. I believe there are 8 of them.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a limit. That may not be the case for all schools, but I don't think CSULA has a limit. I do think you have to wait a few weeks in between tests.

For CSULA, you can take the TEAS only twice a year. If you choose to do it twice, you have to wait 3 weeks until you take your 2nd one. So with us, Rachel, we can retake it December after finals is over to make sure we tried our best lol

So if I retook it a week after I can't use those scores? Wish I knew that before...

Also, when calculating our prereq gpa, do we include micro and stats grades if we've completed those courses?

Hi guys. Thought i'd start contributing after a year of just reading through threads. Good luck to everyone who apples this year!

Im not sure if people are posting points already but heres mine for this upcoming application period:

Pre-req gpa: 10pts

Cumulative gpa: 3-4 pts (not sure)

TEAS: 8 pts

EMT experience: 3 pts

Total: 24/25 pts
