CSULA Fall 2016 Nursing (BSN)

Updated:   Published

I realize it may be early, but I wanted to start a thread for the CSULA Fall 2016 nursing program hopefuls. I'm sure we will all have a lot of questions, especially because of the upcoming semester conversion. I have plenty of questions about application deadlines, volunteer hours, TEAS, etc. It will be nice to have a community where we can ask each other questions and offer advice. Eventually we can share stats, and we may even end up in the same cohort!

Micro and stats are excluded when calculating pre-req gpa.

You just need to put in the specific pre-reqs. I believe there are 8 of them.

Thanks!!! Sorry for the late reply. I'm almost done with the nursingcas application. Now I'm just waiting for my transcript to be verified. Hopefully there are no delays ?

Hey guys! Is there a limit to the amount of times we are allowed to take the TEAS test?

So, I went to an information session at CSULA for the school of nursing. I was informed that we are allowed to take the TEAS twice within the application period (Sept. 28-Jan. 11), but we can take them as many times as we want outside of the application period. She did not mention a waiting time in between tests.

Has anyone else submitted their application? Are they supposed to evaluate my transcripts first before submitting my application?

Hey guys, i got accepted to ELAC and LA county nursing programs just wondering if any of you know if their ADN's would be transferable to CSULA?

Hey guys, its been a while since i've been on this page. It's nice to see more people being active. :)

Is anyone else here attending CSULA? And if you are were you able to add BIOL 200B as a class??

I wasn't able to and just because of that I don't think I'll be able to apply for any programs next year :(( UGH they only opened 2 lecture classes for Bio and there's like 200 people on the waitlist!! The bio department still doesn't want to open another section despite that big of a number. Sorry i'm ranting a bit lol. Anyways, i'm in a total loss right now in wether i should still apply to the other nursing programs as well... Is everyone here 2nd or 3rd years?

Hi, nsc95!

Where did you read that Micro and Stats would be excluded from our pre-req gpa? I am going off these requirements that CSULA has posted for applicants.

https://www.calstatela.edu/sites/default/files/groups/School of Nursing/PDF/Applications/BSN_basic/bsn_basic_must_read_info.pdf

I had contacted an advisor in the nursing program. Per the advisor "for the prerequisite classes GPA we are not including microbiology and statistics.. the grades will [still] be part of the cumulative GPA."

Good luck!

Do you guys know the cut off point? Is it 24 points?

Yes, and those who were waitlisted had 23 points. (Apparently some got in) I looked at CSULA's acceptance stats for last year's BSN. You can search it on here. It's still up.

Thank you for this information! ? Btw, sorry for the late reply all my notifications were going to my junk mail :(
